TT Superbikes: Real Road Racing - The Motorcycle Sim Benchmark

Jester Interactive's TT Superbikes: Real Road Racing emerged onto the market in 2005. It came as a surprise since the developer was more famous for its MTV tie-in 'Music' franchise than hardcore motorcycle simulators.

However, as we find out in our video retrospective, Jester Interactive's enthusiasm for the Isle of Man TT - the famous fortnight of motorcycle culture and road racing - shines through.

The classic PlayStation 2 game features realistic bike physics with a learning curve steeper than Snaefell Mountain, which made it quite frustrating at times. However, as a result, nailing a perfect lap on the 37.73-mile TT course was one of the most satisfying experiences in sim racing.

With the Isle of Man TT set to get underway soon after Covid-enforced postponements in 2020 and 2021, we felt that now is a great time to look back on a hidden PS2 sim racing gem.

Is it good enough to be considered King of the Mountain? Have a watch and let us know what you think!

This game was awesome, still have it. It inspired me to get my motorcycle license and motorcycle. I wish there was a modern game that had IOMTT, NW200, Ulster GP and Macau GP in the same game.

4:10 STOP, HE'S ALREADY DEAD!!!

The main problem is how SHARP the bumps are on the road - Some stretches of several courses are essentially IMPOSSIBLE unless you know the strip of asphalt that is actually smooth

What a great bunch of games they were..

I’ve had this game on my shelf for ages and never played it. Now i’m hunting down the sequel!

Great game, best played on pc with emulation and the PS4 pad for motion controls for smooth steering. Way better than the last TT.

With TT3 being done by the Rims Racing developers maybe there’s some hope for the future.

Agreed..I pretty much went from RVF 750 on the Amiga to this on PS2, then Polyphony's Tourist Trophy as far as bike games went. Kyloton's IoM 1 was ok, and it brought road racing back to the mainstream, but for me I genuinely enjoy the second IoM they did. It felt tighter and more how I remember TT Superbikes. But just like Richard Burns Rally was my goto Rally sim back in the day, TT Superbikes will always be my benchmark too for 2 wheel racing.

Great video, matey. 2nd one I've watched from your channel, subscribing right after I finish this comment. Just wanted to say thank you for doing such a great job elevating motorbike games on consoles, and showing us bike fans new stuff we can play.
Well done matey. 💪🏻❤️

How does TT Superbikes Real Road Racing CHAMPIONSHIP compare?

@mickeymyers13 1 year ago

One more comment, just to ask what is for me a very important question. Car racing sim fans have great setups nowadays, with all the driving wheels and pedals and all that. What is the best way for us motorbike sim racing fans to play on consoles, in your opinion?
Are we forever destined to the gamepad controllers, or are there more immersive ways to play?
Thanks in advance, mate 💪🏻❤️

I’ve got a sealed copy of this, and my Trinitron CRT all setup…watching some reviews about to crack the seal 🦭 and play this game. I have Tourist Trophy and about every other racing game you could ever think of, but for some reason this has been sitting on my shelf sealed for a decade or more
