Why do we photograph the night sky?
For me, the answer has never been only about the finished image. It is about the drive into darkness, the quiet before the first exposure, the waiting, the mistakes, the uncertainty, and the feeling of standing beneath something far larger than yourself.
In the first episode of Under the Same Sky, we begin Season 1: The Story Behind the Image — a cinematic journey through the emotional, creative, and practical process of astrophotography.
This episode explores why night-sky images matter, what the camera can and cannot hold, and how every photograph of the stars carries more than light. It carries the story of the person who went out to find it.
From dark roads and cold fields to failed attempts, quiet patience, and the final image that brings the experience home, this is the beginning of a season about the chase behind the photograph.
Under the Same Sky is a cinematic astronomy storytelling series exploring how the night sky connects science, history, myth, memory, and the human experience.
