Looking for a CitraSolv alternative in Canada? In this video, I’m testing out a $7 bottle of Goo Gone from Canadian Tire to see if it can create those beautiful, organic altered National Geographic pages we all love for collage fodder!

Since CitraSolv can be hard to find in smaller quantities, I went on a hunt for an alternative containing limonene, and the results from this Goo Gone experiment are very promising. I'll show you my process of spraying the magazine, letting it sit, and then revealing the amazing "halo effects," abstract textures, and vibrant color splotches that emerged.

In this video, you’ll see:

Why I chose Goo Gone as a CitraSolv alternative.
The step-by-step process of spraying a full National Geographic magazine.
A "flip-through" of my favorite results, including organic shapes and aged-map effects.
Tips for using these pages in your collage art or junk journals.
A simple trick to avoid chemical reactions when gluing your altered papers.
Supplies Used:

National Geographic Magazines
Goo Gone (Spray bottle version)
Protective surface (and a well-ventilated area!)
Whether you’re a mixed media artist, a junk journaler, or just love abstract paper textures, I hope this experiment inspires you to try something new with your stash!
