Smash Bros has an extremely long competitive history, so I thought it would be a fun idea to go through each game and see which characters have, and have not won a major tournament throughout the games entire life.
I also thought it would be fun to compare which of the Smash games have the most character diversity in this regard. Can you guess which games have the highest percentage of their roster winning majors?
Let's find out. We will go over all of Smash 64, Melee, Brawl, Smash 4 and Ultimate and then look at the series overall to see which characters have and have not reached these heights.

Syrup's Ness should count as I've been told he used Ness quite a few times, and not just vs Sparg0, but I haven't been able to find vods.
May 24th 2025 - Rarikkusu wins Sumabato SP 58 with Falco
May 25th 2025 - Spargo wins Kings of Fields 5 using mostly Piranha Plant
May 25th 2025. - BeastModePaul wins MomoCon with Hero
February 22nd, 2026- Yaura wins AnoAno Brothers 5 with Samus/Dark Samus.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Junebug did win Patchwork with DK, but it wasn't considered a Major, I don't think there were any top 10 players there, but his DK is the reason I mention the character in the melee section.
Also Marcus won Supernova 2024 with Ness in Smash 4, but it didn't count as a major because of many of the top Smash 4 players didn't enter because they were focused on Ult.
I actually wrote the script for this video like a month ago, but when I was 80% done editing the video, my hard drive fried and I had to start it from scratch. What are the odds that throughout the entirety of Smash, Ness didn't win, but he did during the time it took me to finish the video 🥲.
I mentioned the Syrup tournament because it was fresh on my mind during the second time making the video, but yeah I also thought he only used Ness once during it. I should have double checked before the second recording.
