The VA still pays these six Agent Orange diseases at 80, and none of them has a deadline or an age limit. Under 38 CFR 3.307(a)(6)(ii) a listed disease can show up "at any time after service." The three listed conditions with a one-year clock are not in this six. Figures: 2026 rates, veteran alone, eff. Dec 1, 2025.

WHO IS PRESUMED EXPOSED. Vietnam, Jan 9, 1962 to May 7, 1975, incl. inland waterways and ships within 12 nautical miles. Thailand bases through Jun 30, 1976. Laos. Cambodia (Mimot, Krek). Guam and American Samoa. Johnston Atoll. Korean DMZ, Sep 1, 1967 to Aug 31, 1971. C-123 aircrews. If you served in one of them, you may qualify.

WHY THESE SIX: they most often show up late in life.

1) ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE (38 CFR 4.104). About 3 in 10 men 80 and older have coronary heart disease (AHA). 10% for continuous medication, $180.42 a month. 100% during a confirmed heart attack and for three months after (DC 7006), and for three months after admission for bypass surgery (DC 7017). It does not include high blood pressure or stroke (3.309(e) Note 2).

2) PROSTATE CANCER. Median age at diagnosis 68; 65.5% of cases at 65+ (NCI SEER). DC 7528, 100% ($3,938.58 a month), continuing after treatment with a mandatory exam at six months, then rated on residuals: absorbent materials changed under 2 times a day 20%, 2 to 4 times 40%, more than 4 times 60%. If treatment ended long before you file, it starts at residuals.

3) RESPIRATORY CANCERS (lung, bronchus, larynx, trachea). Lung median age 71. DC 6819, 100% through treatment and six months after, then residuals.

4) BLADDER CANCER. Median age 73; 44.7% of new cases at 75+. Added by the FY2021 NDAA, effective Jan 1, 2021, with parkinsonism. Rated under DC 7528, same as prostate.

5) PARKINSON'S DISEASE AND PARKINSONISM. Usually starts in the early to mid-60s (NINDS). DC 8004, minimum 30% ($552.47 a month) with ascertainable residuals; residuals can be rated separately.

6) MULTIPLE MYELOMA. Median age 69. DC 7712, symptomatic myeloma 100% for five years after diagnosis (Note 2), then a mandatory exam. The clock starts at diagnosis, not the claim. At 2026 rates: $3,938.58 a month, $47,262.96 a year. MGUS is on the list too, rated 0%.

THE FIRST PAYMENT. The effective date is the later of the date the VA receives the claim or the date entitlement arose (38 CFR 3.400); an intent to file holds it for a year (3.155). Pay starts the first of the next month. Example only: Parkinson's diagnosed in April, intent to file May 10, pay from June 1, decision in October at 30%: first deposit 4 x $552.47 = $2,209.88. Nehmer (38 CFR 3.816) can move it back to an earlier claim for Vietnam veterans, never for a first filing today.

SURVIVORS may qualify for DIC (38 U.S.C. 1310), even if the veteran never filed.
