Thanks so much for watching! What was your favorite agate?

Your saw needs to be refreshed, take a grinding wheel and use saw to cut into it 3 or 4 times, it refreshes diamonds

The saw is blowing out the ends because it is sad that it doesn’t get the hilarious sound effects anymore.

I can't remember if it was no 3 or 4 but that was stunning, just like Saturn and its rings. By far my favourite.

Hey, I’d just like to say that I got really into lapidary when I discovered your channel a couple of years ago. I saved for a while and now I have the same Hi-Tech diamond saw you do! Really good for rock cutting, to this day I have cut a couple hundred rocks, very very interesting

I'd consider using UV on the less exciting cuts.

I learned that new blades are great. After a little wear they tend to blow out the end. Absolutely normal.

Mama always said Lake Superior agates was like a box o’ chocolates

I have to admit, I am learning so much from your videos. I just got a pack of Mawali Agates yesterday, and will be using the light to determine which gets cut first. Thanks for being such a wonderful Agateer. Oh, and good morning!

They are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get inside.

I want to see more Lake Superior Agates, cut open.
Please and thank you ❤.

Your joy for this is so contagious! I love it. Keep sharing your passion!

The great big one would make beautiful jewelry . The clear dark agate, knock the skin off the other side of it and polish it on a lapidary wheel and it would be so pretty

@16:10 If cut properly, those would make great pendants or earings.

Yes, on Lake Superior agates. The last one was the best.

12:14 looks like a ballet dancer on the right half! :O

Stunning rocks

0:59 Tumble it!
4:10 aaaaaand into the tumbler.
6:00 It's not too late. Tumble it!

You know what? Just tumble like 80% of those. The ones with the sweet sweet quarts, and also the ones with the rings, those are good.

:D

I polished up a small lake Superior agate that was like the one that was all chalcedony...mounted it in a wrist wrap style of bracelet with the some positioned over the back of her hand. It was totally a beautiful rock !

the breakage as the end of cutting an agate is an easy (ha !) explanation.  Quartz and quartzite are silicates (silicon dioxide, SiO2, ...and SiO2 with other elemental additions.  Just say soft glass with tinctures of other elemental colors and hues.  Chalcedony (waxy translucent) quartz is the generic mother species of agates, jasper, carnelian, onyx, etc.  When, not if, there are imperfection in the quartzite, especially micro-vesicular surfaces (pock marked or bubbly surface, indents, ...) this is a region of weak structure.  Of course, cutting through a weak section will have this silicate glass structure fracture.  It is like the mafic (iron-rich) micro-crystalline structures of obsidian volcanic glass that breaks into conchoidal (spherical, curvilinear features).  Too avoid this - go slower, less tension of the rock on the cutting blade (more vibrations, more heat), more water, less cutting vibration and heat going through the rock.  Vibration can shatter a wine glass example.  Heat, even though cooled by water dripping or flow, isn't enough to stop micro-cavitation of the SiO2, from cavitating (air bubbling out the O2 as gaseous oxygen.  The silicate rock then has to restructure its elemental lattices of SiO2 (and any other elemental compositions) into Si and those other elements, which usually fail.  A long explanation, but weak rock with surface imperfections, leads to fracturing.
