Ironically, I bought a Kobo from the Amazon store.

It’s funny how more relevant this video is after Amazon start removing the download to usb on the 26th February. Downloaded all my kindle books to my computer and will buy a kobo and transfer these onto that

After learning a couple of days ago about Amazon's rather underhanded decision to remove the ability to download ones books and back them up, I immediately decided to change ecosystems. I am rather fed up with Amazon greed and refusal to consider customer interests first. Looking back, I have purchased innumerable books numbering in the thousands and several Kindles of various kinds. But no more. My Kobo Libra color is on the way and I have downloaded hundreds of books over the last couple of days. It's been a bit of a chore to convert the formats but well worth the time

I’m trying to phase Amazon out of my life as much as possible. Thanks for this!

Pleased to see more people moving away from Amazon

Love this video but just want to point out that with the Kobo there is an easy way to get files on it through a cloud service. It has direct links to a Google Drive folder and a Dropbox folder. I personally use this feature and have found it just as seamless as the emailing feature for Kindle

I moved away from Kindle/Amazon to Kobo as well. As a canadian, it felt like the right decision. And I don't regret my Libra colour at all

"Easy to get books from elsewhere into your Kindle library..."
Unfortunately, it's rather more difficult to get books from your Kindle library to other devices.

That's not an accident, and it illustrates a basic issue about Amazon's attitude towards its "customers" -- you know, those inconvenient creatures who actually buy the damn books in the first place...

I have a Kindle and a Kobo but I'm in the process of moving all my ebooks over to my Kobo because I'm afraid of losing the books I've purchased. Aside from that, really really enjoy my Kobo Plus subscription, no borrow limits AND audiobooks! Highly recommend.

Two of my favorite features for the Libra Colour is it's integration with Dropbox and Pocket. I have Calibre run on my computer and fetch my news on a nightly basis and drop those files to Dropbox, and then I can read those articles on my eReader. Pocket takes care of the ad-hoc articles I want to read.

I love having my Kobo linked to my local library.

I find the kindle email thing to be super sus. It basically means that I have to run my file through an amazon data scalping service to get it onto my bought and paid for device.

Honestly I really like the kind of buttons the old kindles had like the 3/4, where you get both buttons for forward/back on both sides of the device so no matter how you hold it it's comfortable to switch pages.

I own an Oasis second gen that I like, but just couldn’t stand the Amazon thing. I purchased a Kobo Forma and am now set to go with the Color Libra. I love the format with the buttons. And, I love KOBO!

Well, I tried to move from Kindle to Kobo (and there are 3 more alternatives for someone in Germany), but then my wife did not find any of the next 3 books she wanted to buy in any of those stores. So. She bought the Kindle version. At least I have a separate download for all books purchased until February. This is all so frustrating.

The one big deal for me when I changed to Kobo was the ability to store and listen to Audio books from a variety of sources, including my local Public Library,  direct from the Kobo via Bluetooth.

I moved kindle to Kobo a few years back and with my Libra 2 I´m very pleased.  I now only buy books in Spanish and frequently as audio - both well catered for.  Due to a major accident I'm upgrading to the colour Libra without hesitation which hopefully says it all.

I would switch to Kobo for the buttons... I can't say how much I prefer the buttons to the "sweeping" of the pages, which is most annoying.

one thing i noticed was that kobo libra screen changed around faster and more smoothly when reading for long periods and switching hands
