Okay, I'm just gonna say it: Steiner is medieval Buzz Lightyear. There, I feel better.

Final Fantasy IX is the first game I bought with my own money. It is easily one of my favorites in the series.

It would be interesting to see a FF title where the population is  a heavy mix of anthropomorphic animal characters like in FF9 but with highly realistic graphics.

I know X had the Ronso and XII had the Veira, but the mix in FF9 was different.

FF9 had hippo kids, duck nobles, owl professors, an entire city of rat people, pretty sure Baku was a bat.... The cities were full of random these NPCs

Perfect timing, started another run. Just reached Lindblum

Playing FFIX right now with my 10 year old son for the first time. He's really enjoying it - we just got to Terra.

All time favorite final fantasy.

FFIX was always the pinnacle of Final Fantasy to me. I know that a lot of people prefer VI and/or VII, but I loved the more classical fantasy aspects of IX over the sci-fi/fantasy blend that was codified in VI and VII.

One of favourite videos about ffix. I thought I leaned everything except a small 5%. But boy was I wrong. Amazing investigative gaming journalism. Such a rarity these days!!

I wish the Hawaii studio hadn’t closed. I really wanted to work there when I was young.

Forever a masterpiece ❤

I'm here just incase the remake comes around. Not quite given up hope.

Happy 25th FFIX! SE has a pop-up cafe in Shinjuku celebrating FFIX. There is a wall of post-its where many of them ask for a remake.

32:04 This has always been one of my favorite things about this game. It made the world feel more alive.

As someone who has eaten FFIX since it's release, thank you for this fun little call back! I learned things! This is my favorite entry into the series and now I am inspired to replay them all!

The only thing I would have changed would be that it would be Steiner pointing out to Beatrix that Brahn had captured and cursed Garnet when they went to rescue her, and berating her for her own blindness. Steiner, up to that point, had been deliberately keeping his eyes closed to the atrocities Brahn was committing, and this would have been the point where he finally broke. It would parallel everyone else's arcs where they lose who they were and have to deal with who they have to be.

Peak ff popularity was between ffvii and ffx. After that they never seemed able to recapture the magic of that era. I think of it as the golden era of ff.
I never really got into ffviii, but ffvii, ix, and x were amazing games. Ff tactics advanced was also an amazing game that I will forever love.

More awesome facts from my favourite FF in the series, on a serious note I was listening watching your videos in hospital a few weeks while recovering from a pulmonary embolism which caused a broken jaw, I missed getting a final pledge in for the guardians of the crystal book. But your videos did help while I was connected to various machines delivering dose of blood thinners and the constant blood tests. These videos took the pain out of the needles and being on a constant feed of thinners and recovering from jaw surgery. I’m now safe at home recovering and playing the FF series again from 1 to 16 while listening through your videos I’ve saved on my personal playlist. Looking forward to your next video, it’s always a joy listening to and learning new facts from you.

It's amazing that the removal of Garnet's horn left zero scarring... Lol

FFIX was the very first FF I've ever played. After my first play-through back in 2001, I immediately started FFIV through the FF Chronicles disk and understood how much FFIX borrowed from and payed homage to FFIV once I finished it. Kane's Lance found in Memoria being one of them.

Lol I just assumed that you guys relabeled to Datalog. I just reaubscribed without a second thought
