Fun fact: Zote has the most dialogue in the game. Most of it is useless, but still, he has the most

Welcome to Part 2 of Dan Almost Finds the King's Station.

Episode 21, in which Dan significantly lowers the number of things for people in the comments to yell at him about.

Welp, that's twice now Dan's been one room away from the King's Station, then decided to turn back. sigh

Honestly, it struck me this episode that my favorite thing about this entire series is listening to Dan mother the enemies.  "DON'T THROW THINGS" "STOP SPITTING" "GET OVER HERE" "QUIT IT".  He plays this game role-playing as the slightly exasperated mother of these poor bugs.

"Shut up Zote."
The most relatable Dan quote

fun fact: having a weaker nail gets slightly offset difficulty wise: the more hits you need for an enemy, the more soul they give you

Those two little bees are perfectly positioned to encourage you to use a "fireball" to get them out the way and open the Hive entrance. Great bit of level design.

Higher being, these words are for you alone:

-I was going to leave this for a little later, but since you brought it up (and you're a couple weeks ahead of this comment), let's talk endings.

You can totally do this like Dark Souls, beat the game, and do your lore dive.  Unlike Dark Souls, there is a save point literally right outside the final boss room, so once you beat the final boss, you can reload your save and get the other endings.  With that said...

-Endings are not tied to completion percentage.  Endings are tied to specific optional items you find and taking certain actions in the final boss fight. I reccomend playing through the game, discover things on your own, and beat the final boss.  You can actually lock out of one of the endings if you find those optional items first, and it is not easy to find them on your own.  I had to use a guide, myself.

-Editing is the mightiest superpower.

-Come on Carrie, no one likes Zote THAT much.

-In true Dan Fashion, he found the secret entrance to the Hive completely by accident.

-And Carrie comes in the pun slam dunk.

-The spitty bugs in Kingdom's Edge?  Those are Primal Aspids, and they have something of a reputation in the community.  Even though they spit in the exact same pattern every time, the projectiles magically seek you out.  Even though they move in a straight line.  Have fun with that.

Little knight, the world extends farther and farther with no signs of stopping.  Plunge into the unknown, and find the treasures that dwell within.

Higher beings, these words are for you alone

Desolate dive is a pretty good panic button. There's i frames on the actual hit, and the damage is good.

🦀He is going to crystal peak 🦀
Edit: Oh no

13:54 It's so cute how he timidly says "I guess it wouldn't hurt too bad to poke around. I'm bug knight..." And then hugs the pole as he slides down to the ground. SO cute!

3:25 you can still beat the game straight for the "bad" ending first, and then just continue playing to uncover for stuff and unlock the "true" ending.

Fun fact: It's not snow in Kingdom's Edge. It's ash.
If your memory still serves you, this is an important distinction ;)

I love this game, and this is quickly becoming my favorite playthrough of it so far. I really hope you go for 100%, it's such an adventure.

Carrie is just so great! I love her cute little editing bits.

Goes way past the paper trail and the humming

"I feel like I've missed Cornifer"

Nooooooooooooo

he found the GOD DAMN HIVE this early.

I hadn't found the Hive by the time I beat the true ending.

Just waltzed right into the hive. I'm jealous I'll admit. I took much longer to eventually find that in my inevitable search for everything.
