Ed Bradley and Mike Wallace were the nucleus of sixty minutes. I found this interview riveting as I worked in Southie for 16 years across from Broadway Station. Circa 1969-1985.
Weeks was a tough guy and loyal enforcer for the Winter Hill gang, but he wasn't a hitman and police have never obtained any real evidence or had serious suspicions that he's killed anybody. My guess is that the story about being across the street from Carr's house with a sniper rifle is partially-true, but also very embellished. He likely went to Howie's house with a gun yes but probably lost his nerve. I've read his book, BRUTAL with Phyllis Karas (would recommend it) and some of the stuff Whitey had him doing was really menial and boring. Whitey had a soft spot for him but he was never his "right hand man". That was Steve Flemmi. Instead Kevin was more a lackey, or little brother. And when the way they almost came to blows in the courtroom adds credence to this, there was always tension hidden beneath the surface with them.
Ed Bradley’s HS classmate was Whiteys hit man, he was convicted of 24 murders. John Martorano and Ed went to a private HS together and we’re teammates on the football team. I’m surprised Ed didn’t mention it.
Lmao when weeks started laughing when he was told Howie didnt believe he had the stones to whack him and was lying , weeks was laughing and probably telling himself "oh boy your so lucky I had a heart to not do it in front of your daughter"
In the end these criminals are always out for themselves. Whitney never had allegiants to anyone. An informant since 75'. Gave him reign over the city.
