4:44 This is why it pisses me off when people suggest you can “skip” episodes 1 and 2. Anakin’s relationship with his mother is crucial to understanding why he does what he does to try and save Padme

When he killed them younglings....he perpetuated his hate and suffering

I'm currently rewatching The Walking Dead with my girlfriend and just before season 4 ended I realized something: If Negan and the Saviors never appeared, Rick would become a tyrant. He starts becoming more ruthless ever since he strangled that Claimer in the bathroom and it escalates with every threat and death in his group. He saw that violence was the way to control people. I remember at the end of season 6 he says he would have let Carol burn Karen and David when the flu broke out in the prison, contracting how he originally acted by banishing Carol for her actions.

Negan reminded Rick of the morals he still had in him and that he can't control everyone he sees. It's not until the end of season 8 though that he fully realizes this. I'm so curious to see him act between where I am now (5x09) to the end of season 8.

people need to learn the difference between being a good guy with boundaries and a doormat who virtue signals about being "good"

This is why daredevil season 3 is one of the best seasons in television history. Because you’re rooting for Matt to finally kill the kingpin after seeing everything he’s done and then they show bullseye in the daredevil suit, basically showing what Matt would become if he finally broke his one rule.

I think this is such a fascinating topic to deal with. Many of us are kind to begin with but slowly lose our empathy and benevolence as life teaches us and we face selfish people. But tip over too much to the other side and we become one of them and completely revel in it. I think its really hard to draw that exact balance between where to be kind and where to be a hardline wall

To say it in Gandalf's words: "True strength is not taking a life, it is to preserve it." And he's right because everybody can get to the point of killing someone they don't like. It is only the strong who are able to think about the situation and consequences of final actions that can't be redone. Anakin shows his weakness being the reason for falling on the dark side while his strength brings him back to the light side

There's this Survivorship Bias in Protagonists where we mainly see heroes who are able to overcome the Corruption Arc. For every Batman, Spider-Man, and Luke Skywalker who uses their trauma to make the world a better place, there is a Walter White, Rick Grimes, or Anakin Skywalker who perpetuates the generational trauma by hurting everyone around them.

I think Corruption Arcs are interesting because they're the inversion of the Hero Origin Story. Most heroes usually become heroes because something terrible happened to them but they didn't let that terrible thing break them. The Corruption Arc is a "What If?" scenario showing what happens when a Traditional Hero is broken and the pieces can't be put back together. Walter White's Cancer diagnosis broke him and he was never able to reconstruct himself back to normal.

Anakin cared too much.

Well explained! Thank you. <3

Bro included everyone but Warmaster Horus.

I’m the real world you can’t succeed if your the good guy

Great Pug BGM from vrchat

I feel like Walt was never a good person, just a pushover. He was never altruistic in his motives even though it seems like it at the beginning of the show. It was always about power

The original point in Part 2 is actually flipped on its head with Hunter X Hunter.
The MC Gon, never did anything with an ulterior motive, straightforward through and through, and the viewer interprets them as a "good" character with probably some chaotic in there too.
Slowly, through seeing their reactions to unhinged or outright scary characters, you realize he's never changed into something dark and scary, he's just never been lawful good nature.

You realize he's capable of terrible, dark, actions and only his upbringing make him grounded to the good side in any way. Cross him, even once, and he'd kill your bloodline if you give him a reason to.

I love your analysis

Rick Grimes is by far the best character ever

Is that the soundtrack for the hit game Domina?

Walt was never a good guy alot of his terrible traits were always there he just didnt have the confidence and reason to act on them.

I remember seeing your channel. Is your name Mere, a former JJK tuber? Peak content.
