Ugh. I miss this era of women’s tennis.. The Belgians (Clijsters and Henin), The Americans (Serena, Venus, Davenport), The French (Pierce and Mauresmo), and The Russians (Sharapova, Dementieva, Kuznetsova, Petrova, Chakvetadze).

All of them are good to Legendary players.

"This is Sharapova's strength: her ability to play her best tennis on the most important points." Very true.

Kim Clijsters was one of my favourite female tennis player in my  childhood days...
She is cool

That was such a great comeback in the second set by Maria, those MP saves were epic

Sharapova giving Clijsters a kiss after losing just proves Clijsters is loved by everyone on the tour.

Geez, both were relentless. Sharapova with the nerve of steel during match points and Clijsters always returning one or two extra balls with her speed and court coverage. Those balls were enough to end points with most players but not Kim.

I think Clijsters is one of the few players that Sharapova actually liked and admired (for her perspective after defeats).

Sharapova, the last Teenager who became world number 1 in WTA circuit.

The Scary part about this Sharapova is the fact that she had a big serve like Serena but when her shoulder got injured and she had the surgery it fucked everything up for that serve and what it could have become!!! A big weapon

Wow. Marias forehand was so different back then 😱

Sharapova saving 5 match points from 0-40 to eventually win the second set is EVERYTHING

I’m here for these kind of matches.

1:21:27 masha's turning point in her mental game, WHAT A COMEBACK!!

Ill never understand how come Kim doesn't have at least 15 GS trophies.  Her tennis is just super clean, one of the best ever woman to play tennis

This is when Sharapova played with no fear and didn't have the mental scar tissue of beatings by Serena

Ah yes, two great semifinals in 2005, Pierce v Dementieva being the other. The early to mid 2000s was a great era for womens tennis, I went to a lot of tournaments in Europe back then and saw a lot of these great players.

I miss this golden era of women's tennis

This performance is amazing I will come back to watch it again.

Great match! I remember watching it live. These two were very evenly matched and had very comparable achievements during their respective careers.
Why do we see the fist 2 games, tied 1-1, and then the beginning of the 2nd set? Did it air this way?

Love this match. Crazy that Maria was so quiet and not grunting at all hahaha
