Happy to see more Astros, especially a stud like Cedeno. He’s a guy with a pretty impressive career that gets little to no attention. The photography in this set is just amazing. Really enjoy the cards and the bonus info that you provide. While I’m on the fence about Tommy John being in the HOF, I do believe his doctor needs to be in the HOF. Thanks for the video and thanks for sharing!
Gave a video like. Got to love those Astros uniforms. Cesar Cedeno had a great career and he was fast. Hadn't seen that, Andy Messersmith. Great looking card of him with a bat. Looks like they just put the chalk down on the field behind him. The 1975 SSPC cards are great. Fun seeing you highlight the set. Have a blessed Sunday, Jim.
Jim, thanks again for doing this. I bet you could win a lot of games with the 10 players featured today. Just great players. I have been saying for years please put Tommy John and Dr.Jobe in the Hall of Fame. Sadly they didn't do it before they passed away. Tommy's numbers alone deserve it. Add the fact that a surgery that has saved thousands of careers is named after it should have been in long ago. Another player coming up in the series who I think should be in is Ron Cey. Look at his numbers. His numbers would be praised if he played today. Lots of HRs lots of walks and a great on base percentage. Thanks again Jim. I really look forward to these every week.
Nice video Jim, thank you. You mentioned Mark's Dodgers card channel. I enjoy Mark's channel too. Another channel to check out is Rick Acosta Dodgers Card Collector. Rick has a vast collection of Dodgers cards and many other great cards.
Great Part 7 Jim. Super looking cards and some great pitchers that you showed today. I remember Cesar Cedeno as a kid. He was a really good player. Tommy John should be in the HOF. He had a great career. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to Part 8.
Awesome video and thanks for the shout out. Glad you covered Messersmith’s role in free agency. I agree with you about John and especially Dr. Job. For sure for impact on the game he should be in the hall. And I don’t have any of these yet so awesome to see. Look forward to the next one. Also heading to EBAY 🤣
I agree - Jimmy Wynn, Jose Cruz - and Cesar Cedeno - the Astrodome was where hitting and - especially - power went to die. All are firmly in the Hall of the Very Good. Had no idea Al Downing had a card in this set! It's a shame that Tommy John wasn't elected while he was alive. Whether as a player or for his importance to the history of the game due to the surgery named after him - he should already be in there. Remember, it's called the Hall of Fame, not just the Hall of Analytics.
Like#12! Another SFA episode my friend! 🫶🏻 As you already know I, I am a huge fan of those Astros uni's. What you may not know, is that I am a huge fan of both Jose Cruz and Cesar Cedeno 😁👍🏻 Big fan of Charlie Hough also. I am a fan totally against the Baseball Writer's Association even being involved. John should be in!! I always felt Managers, Coaches and players should be the people voting. Guys that played with and against, Managed and Managed against. Really enjoyed hearing your thoughts and obviously seeing all these amazing cards. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻 Take care and have a SFA week Jim! ✌🏻😁
Hi Jim, was always a big fan of Jose Cruz and Cesar Cedeno. Great pitchers this episode, workhorses with long careers. Did not know that Charlie Hough finished an even 216-216 or Burt Hooten had 29 career shutouts. It looks like there is no one pitching today that will throw even half that many. The role of the starting pitcher has changed so much and imo not for the better. 300IP, 20wins, Complete Games, and Shutouts are all a thing of the past and not valued or wanted, replaced by 5 inning quality starts and pitching by committee. I don’t think this is to save and rest arms for October as it seems there are more pitchers going on the IL and getting TJ surgeries than ever before. (especially for our Orioles), so maybe related to the lessened requirements to get to the World Series where you don’t have to have the most wins in your league, win your division or even win 90 games to have a chance. Agree with you on Tommy John and expect he will get in the HOF. Too bad he was not enshrined while he was still alive. Looking forward to next week, take care.
