I can't knock it, though, I installed quite a few wacky ideas in my cars over the years. Mostly on the audio side, though. I had the odd talent of being able to cobble together a bunch of bottom-dollar components into a $100-200 system that sounded like it cost ten times as much once I dialed everything in just right. Then my friends started buying $20-40 "car electronics show at local hotel" stuff and asking me to do the same for them. 😆 I had dozens of people "Bumping on a Budget." Nothing that would win car stereo competitions, but the only way you'd be embarrassed by your system would be if you showed the brand names to someone.
Thanks to word-of-mouth, there were many times I was asked to fix someone else's crap install, too. (You can't peel duct tape off a cardboard box and then wrap that barely-sticky duct tape around a connection. Scotch tape is also not acceptable. Right Front Speaker Positive doesn't get connected to Illumination. You can't connect the Remote lead from the head unit to your subwoofer amplifier's 12V main power terminal, the deck can't provide that much current, and if it could, it couldn't be down that thin wire, RIP your deck's remote turn-on because you fried it.)
6:55 - When I was your age (I hate myself for even thinking/typing that) I used lineman's pliers for almost everything, too. 😆 And Vise-Grips.
I imagine there would be nothing more terrifying than driving behind a car that is running rich blowing smoke out the exhaust 😂 "Quick turn on recirculate!!!"
I got into IT in the 80's by setting up and writing all sorts of unnecessary systems. I've been working in IT my entire life and I'm comfortably an expert in every part of it. I'm paid well and just turning 50, still love my job.. When you criticise him for having a bit of fun and setting up random experiments like this, I assure you he will do better than any of you.
You should install a fire alarm system on yourself next, something like a fire panel backpack, smoke and horn (or sounder base) hat, pull station sleeves lol
