This is like hearing about how Hong Xiuquan claimed to be the brother of Jesus Christ, and then starting a conflict that would lead to 20 million dead

I can just imagine Guilliman hearing about this after his revival

I can understand why some people fall to chaos now lol

19:19 "There is no official ruling on them, and they are never seen again" - They joined Alpha Legion...

So This whole thing was basically that imperial guy in charge just sending the forces of chaos 30 chapters of reinforcements?

Shout out to goats vorpal swords, they deserve more respect

Bronze Gorgons not going to Khorne is the most Tzeencth thing I've ever heard

Chaos on the abbysal crusade: it’s free real estate

This is like that one time in 1870 that Paraguay lost 90% of it's male population to a war no one knows about

The Abyssal Crusade was pretty abysmal ha ha ha god I'm funny

“Some of you may turn to chaos, but that is a risk that we- I mean, I am willing to take” - Basilius

The Vorpal Swords sound like absolute chads.

alternative title: how 97% of Astartes weren't lost

The last time I was this early, the tomb kings were just known as the kings.

Imagine causing roughly thirty thousand space marines to turn traitor, disappear, or completely die out and still be called a saint. Im sure roboute guillotine was fighting mad reading about this.

And here I thought of Bacillus bacteria when you asked what "Basilius" sounds like.

So they tried to wash away their sins with bloody crusades where lots of people died? Some kind of, red tinted death filled redemption? Theres gotta be a better way to word that...

I really wish GW would explore more about what happened between the Horus Heresy and the Great rift. The only things I can think of that happen between those two periods is the Age of Apostasy, The Sabbat Crusade, The War of the beast, and of course the topic of this video. Other than that, I really don't know what goes on between the end of the Heresy, and Guiliman coming back.

The Vorpal Swords are such a badass chapter—they were sent on a mission where they were expected to die, yet they emerged from it like champs. They’re probably the best chapter for fighting Chaos after the Grey Knights, alongside the Exorcists, and you can tell an amazing story about them. How they deal with the pain of losing the chapters of their brothers they rescued from other chapters, how they support them, the series of strange events across the 400 worlds, how they discovered Basilius was a traitor, perhaps the feud between them and the Alpha Legion, and their reactions once this hell is over... There’s amazing potential here. I wish it were so; it would be really cool if the last surviving members of the chapters that escaped the Abyssal Crusade were still Dreadnoughts. Huge potential, friends—huge potential.

30 condemned chapters, 25 broken into traitors, 2 were destroyed, 2 are unaccounted for.
only the vorpal swords and doom legion remained operational, the latter had half of their number turn into a chaos warband.
