Join me for a 40km circular MTB ride from Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire, heading east along the beautiful north shore of the River Trent. This peaceful off-road adventure takes in stunning scenery, wildlife, quiet tracks and woodland before heading around the outskirts of Southwell and on towards Halloughton.
It’s a ride to take slowly, soak up the surroundings and enjoy a bit of MTB mindfulness. The adventure finishes with a brilliant twilight ford crossing by bike — muddy, wet and great fun!

Nice ride Simon. Those views along the Trent were superb. Not too sure I would have zoomed along the wood track if I couldn't see where I was going (been over the handlebars a couple of times and getting old and sensible/scared). Keep up the good work.

If you want a more cost effective suspension solution, get a Redshift seatpost, not cheap but fantastic for eliminating bumps. Roy’s got a 15% discount link on his channel.

Splosh! What an adventure, Simon!
Hope you rounded it off with a couple of pints in 'The Slaughtered Lamb'.
I've raced at Tuxford and Retford but I don't know that part of the Trent - looked nice though.

It makes me want to pull out the MTB now.

I’m moving to Newark (or Bottesford) in the very near future, I’m guessing you can do that on a gravel bike? If not, and looking at the array of paths and tracks in the area, I might invest in another MTB.
