Hello everyone, and welcome back to the channel. If you're a fan of fantasy fiction, you've probably seen a lot of different types of Orcs. But sadly, a lot of these depictions are quite one-dimensional. But in the Elder Scrolls, orcs are nothing like this at all. The Orcs of Tamriel are complex and contradictory, and have one of the most richly developed cultures in the entire setting. But if you've just played Skyrim, you might not have the full picture about these fascinating people.

They are perennial outcasts and underdogs - denied a homeland of their own, and scorned by the other cultures of Tamriel, who dismiss them as little more than savages. Their reputation as formidable warriors makes them one of the most feared peoples on Tamriel - yet they also have a rich culture of their own, producing some of the greatest crafters and armourers on the continent. So today, we’ll take a deep dive into Orcish History and Culture - from their murky origins, to their scattering across Tamriel, and the rise and fall of their great city of Orsinium. And ultimately we will confront the question - is there a future for this pariah folk, or are they doomed to fade into the footnotes of history?
