How Intelligence Agency Dhurandhar Plans To Eliminate Dawood Ibrahim | Vivek Agarwal Podcast

This podcast features senior crime journalist Vivek Agarwal discussing the Mumbai underworld and the activities of Dawood Ibrahim's D-Company.

D-Company's Continued Activity: Despite popular belief, the gang is heavily operational in India, particularly through real estate in areas like Mumbra and major cities, with assets estimated around ₹1 lakh crore (0:51-1:07).
Shift in Business: The underworld has moved away from street-level extortion towards high-profit illicit trades, such as drug trafficking, arms smuggling, and dealing in "blood diamonds"/gold (2:40-3:55). They also engage in smuggling pharmaceuticals like Viagra to the Middle East and Europe (4:24-4:56).
Dawood's Secret Visits: Agarwal claims Dawood still visits India via the sea route in cargo ships for high-level meetings that cannot be conducted elsewhere (6:12-6:20).
Security & Challenges: Dawood enjoys five-layer security in Karachi, making assassination difficult (13:30-13:58). Previous attempts by Indian agencies, including those using Chhota Rajan's team, have failed (15:33-15:50).
Failed Surrender Attempt: In the mid-90s, Dawood considered surrendering through lawyer Ram Jethmalani, but the Indian government rejected his conditions, which included not being held in a regular jail and not facing the death penalty (20:30-20:53). This led to a breakdown in trust, making informants reluctant to cooperate (21:58-22:10).
1993 Blasts: Agarwal states that while Dawood was aware of the 1993 Mumbai blasts plot, he likely did not know the massive scale of the destruction planned, which was spearheaded by the ISI and Tiger Memon (24:40-25:00).
