Fall container gardening, fall garden decor, fall decorating ideas, vintage garden urns, dried hydrangeas & budget fall decor! ๐ Today Iโm transforming two tired summer containers into beautiful fall focal points using mostly things I already own.
After a brutally hot North Texas summer, the plants in my vintage garden urns were DONE. The Dipladenia was dead, the lavender struggled, the sweet potato vine never really took off, and even the Evolvulus had stopped flowering.
Instead of heading to the garden center and completely replanting these containers for fall, I decided to go in a different direction.
Iโm reusing stacked faux pumpkin topiaries Iโve had for several years, adding dried Limelight hydrangeas straight from my garden, tucking in a few smaller pumpkins, and finishing everything with long, natural-looking faux bittersweet vines.
And I didnโt stop with the urns!
Because these vintage urns and my climbing rose arbor create one of the main focal points in my backyard garden, I carried some of the bittersweet up onto the arbor and tucked it among the climbing rose canes. That little detail helped the fall decor feel like an extension of the garden instead of decorations simply sitting in it.
This project is also a reminder that you donโt necessarily have to replace every struggling summer plant with new fall annuals. Sometimes those tired summer containers are an opportunity to create something completely different.
Shop your house. Shop your old fall decorations. Shop your garden. ๐
A few dried flowers, pumpkins and trailing vines completely transformed this areaโand now I have a little touch of fall to make me smile every time I walk through the backyard.
