Hawker centres are first and foremost an essential integral part of the common Singaporean's daily life. It is definitely not a set up aimed at tourists.

In fact the concept of a food court originates in Singapore. It is simply an air-conditioned hawker centre.

One thing that always surprises me is that western tourists tend to mistake the places they visit as some special tourist spots and Singaporeans must be living in a different kind of place.

Actually not… it is our lifestyle and whatever you see and been to is exactly where Singaporeans hang out too. We don’t have anything built just for tourists actually. If you venture out, some of our neighborhoods are even more interesting and cleaner than the tourists spots. :)

Some tourists mistake the gardens by the bay as part of the hotel. It actually isn’t and is built entirely by state funds, including the garden dome etc.

The supertrees hide chimneys of an underground power station. It is on reclaimed land and is a living lab for sustainability and climate change technologies.

It’s not just a tourist spot, as you rightly say, Singaporeans go there to cycle/run/walk all the time… it’s one of many parks in Singapore.

Oh! I especially like the song that started with "She...eee.eee.ee". I'm willing to bet money the title is "She"? I hope it becomes a hit for you and puts you on the map.

This is cold for Singapore - extended cold season this year. Wait a few more weeks and the dry season begins where its just humidity and hot temps.

Weatherwise you're here at the right time of the year during the North East Monsoon season which is usually from November to March. The weather is cooler but wetter. April to July are the hottest months with daytime temperature hitting 35C. The rest of the months are kind of in between. Hope to see you again.
