Reneé, Auli’i and Jaquel CARRIED this movie.

Renee in a cast interview said she played Regina like she was hitting on Cady the whole movie. The bi-panic felt real. lol

the lack of emotion in cadys voice seemed to be a main issue, they totally screwed up stupid with love😭

Finding out that the director has only ever directed music videos puts this entire movie into context… its just a 2 hour music video

Honestly my biggest pet peeve about this movie is that Cady doesn’t SUBTLY transition into the queen bee. In the original movie, you can see her hesitance to lead Karen and Gretchen. In this movie, she just immediately starts leading. The point is that’s not who cady is!!!

My main issue was Cady's really abrupt transition from sweet, innocent Cady into mean girl Cady (which wasn't really convincing). Lindsay Lohan was able to play both so well and her transition to "plastic" was more subtle and gradual, but this actress really only fit the sweet/innocent side to me (even in her clothing, as you mentioned).

Hannah trying to be not too hard on Angourie Rice's songs is just hilarious

The numbers from Mean Girls the Musical require a LOT of vocal strength, and it's just such a mystery why they decided to cast Angourie as Cady!! Her voice simply doesn't fit the belting required for the main character role, and it makes you wonder what sort of directoral choices went into deciding that they'd prefer to change the songs rather than pick a different actress.

41:06 Okay I DONT care what brand deal they made with ELF but Regina George would NEVER wear that brand, at the bare minimum she’d wear Clinique or NARS but realistically she’d probably be wearing Chanel because she’s the rich girl who has the most best brands

sadie sink could’ve killed as cady and this is my roman empire- she’s been on broadway so she can definitely sing and she could’ve brought a lot of ppl to see this movie in theaters

The way Cady killed any comedic and dramatic momentum every time she showed up on the screen really was criminal. She literally felt like an afterthought the whole movie even though she's a main character and that was such a cruel thing to do to that poor actress lol.

One thing this movie did really well is show that the story isn’t about Cady, it’s about Janice and Regina. Cady was always just the middle-man in their games

Hannah saying “she’s so hot and so good and singing and I just want her to have everything she wants … who said that” was SO REAL

i feel like the actress who played Gretchen isn’t appreciated enough when ppl talk abt this movie! she has such a pretty voice and u can tell she really understands her character :)

This movie feels like it’s directed by 5 different people with conflicting ideas. And the lead actress just gave up trying to fit all of their different ideas and stopped caring.

“You know, I…hated that” made me laugh a lot

When Renee says "Get in loser" with that look.... my entire body shut down

For me, the thing I love most about musicals is how EXTRA everything is. It's not about having a pretty voice (even though they do), it's about conveying all the emotions with every line.
With 90% of the songs in this movie musical, it felt like they just wanted to show off how pretty their voicals were, and absolutely nothing else. They were afraid to get silly with the vocals or do anything other than sing the exact note.

Choices were definitely made in this movie...

15:36 That whole song is supposed to be like her huge mind breaking, crazy “girly crush” moment and it’s a weird mix of a chill, cozy sounding song with lyrics that are supposed to be portraying the big emotions like “calcu-lust”. It just doesn’t fit 😂
