The Dynaco ST70 still being built in 2025, almost 70 years after it was first offered.

Perhaps a combination of ingenuity, affordability, performance, peerless reliability, musicality, unique compact looks, serviceability, honesty.…simplicity.

There can be no greater tribute mankind can give to the genius of Mr. David Hafler, Mr. Laurent and other great folk at Dynaco, PA.

The shared information on YouTube has been amazing. I been taking it in for about two years now, still learning. As I move into my elder years, I thought I may need something to stay interested in… tube sound seems like a good starting point. Again, Thank you very much for what you do.

A new subscriber here, I just want to say, I’ve watched this whole series today, and I must say, you are an excellent YouTube presenter. I am a person you target with this video, and while I am an experienced bench technician, and employed for years as an industrial electrician (never licensed), I got back into HiFi gear during COVID, and I really want to learn about tube gear, to the point that I purchased some old Fisher console amps and an old mono tuner like I had in high school. I’ve never built a kit before, but I’m giving it serious consideration. Your presentation did an excellent job of detailing the steps involved in preparing for, and proceeding with an intelligent build. I really ‘get’ how you proceeded to first run the AC wires, then the DC wires, layering things as an electrician would do in a junction box. You may have repeated yourself many times about the star grounding, etc. but you did it more as an explanation and demonstration than as a didactic account. Very helpful to a newcomer who has heard the buzzwords, but perhaps doesn’t understand all the whys and wherefores. Again, watching the implementation really helps some of us with the understanding. The tips on soldering and component layout (to avoid physical and electrical interference) were, again, most helpful. I just don’t know how you could have done a better job. You really nailed it. Thank you.

Note: Any OCD things you did, you clearly called out as personal preferences, or aesthetically pleasing, giving the user the option and not leading him or her blindly down your own path. Again, well done and much appreciated.

Great video series on the ST70. Still one of my favorite amps..the original & a couple different driver boards. Good power & sound for a low price & pretty easy build. There is just so much information & help on the web available for this amp. This amp will be around forever.

Great video. I have mentioned before that I have a ST70 that was modded, restored by the person I bought it from.  I am going to watch all your series & see what I can do myself concerning your extra steps, etc.

Great serie, superb work and analysis as usual. Bravo! I have owned two of these over the years, and yes, they are great, and fun to live with. Just don't forget to match them with easy load, fast speakers, or they can sound sluggish.
