work from home writer with the same food problem here: embrace frozen blocks! I make rice once a week and freeze it in those silly looking portioned silicon freezer thingies.  Then for lunch just add steamed veggies (or just a handful of greens or whatever) + tofu/egg or handful of canned beans + whatever condiment seems nice.. Bonus nutrition points if you add some quinoa to the rice while cooking. I eat a version of this literally every day.

You can reposition that knee bar. I have to redo mine once in a while, but you can position it and tighten it closer to you.

I lost my sister three years ago. I am very creative with most types of needle work. For some reason, the grief and resulting depression affected me strangely. We all know that one aspect of depression is that you don’t want to do the things you like to do. When my sister died, I put up my Sewing Machine, and I haven’t had it out since. What I have been doing is sitting and crocheting 1 million little small doilies. It focuses my mind, and I find the repetition and pattern recognition very comforting. We also moved my husband‘s mother in with us two years ago. She is 94 now, and requires a bit of looking after. We retired eight years ago and we live in a camper. Since Mom, got here, we have not been able to go visit anybody, which was always our goal and how we lived before she came. Now she’s going to stay for a few months with a sibling. We’re actually going to get to go on the road and visit people. What I normally do when we takeoff for these trips is fine something to do with my hands in the truck that I can make gifts I give to people. Now that I have 1 million little doilies, I’m going to start sewing them together and making things that people want or need. I’ve already been asked for a pretty Lacey curtain to add to my daughter-in-law‘s existing curtains and make it more funky. My niece has asked me to make a Mobile for her baby with them. She and I have to work out a blanket design. I have already bought a really cute fleece that I want to use as the base of it.  We have to work out the details of how we can incorporate these doilies. So all in all, I think it would be fun to do something with all of these cute little decorative items that I’ve been making for three solid years.  So that is my discussion of my current creative life.

I have adhd and this video started with me thinking “tell me you have adhd without telling me you have adhd”. Every 5 minutes-ish through this video I kept thinking another one! And another one! Not to call you out and you don’t have to share, but I’m very much like you with my problems and workarounds. Analogue sometimes just works better and sometimes you need the tech to yell at you. Thank you for being vulnerable on the internet, it really makes me feel seen!

I saw the big clamp circle lamp and immediately was so inspired by the thought of putting petals or leaves around it, or even yellow rays to make it look like a sun. Its not cute now but it could be sooo cute I have visionssss

I use a seam ripper to clean out my chair wheels!

Woo!!! Also woo for me- we are moving into a new house (getting keys in an hour!) and we have a dedicated sewing room planned!!!!!!!!!! Yay for us all!!!!

Regarding thread stuck in the chair wheels, you could replace the wheels with "skate wheel chair casters". Should be able to pull the old wheels off and pop the new ones in. The bearing is higher up, so it doesn't grab onto thread or hair. They also wheel around SO SMOOTH and won't damage any floors (even wood!).

8:00 bro heck the landlord, hang your pictures up! Spackling and repainting is literally so cheap and easy for them to do when you leave. In my opinion it's your right, even your duty, to put a couple holes in the walls. You're literally paying their mortgage for them.

that mirror and the windows are excellent surfaces to write with dry erase markers for project planning!

I'm autisitc anf sometimes struggle with eating/cooking depending on how overwhelmed i am. I basicly eat the same "menu" now everyday because it reduces stress of knowing what to eat and how i need to cook it. I vary the ingredients. it's basicly fried potstoes, a veg (broccoli and carrots are my fav) and some protein. (Chicken or beef) Might sound boring but its a big relief for my brain.

Easy go-to meal: chopped greens (good chance to use up any herbs or spring onions), pot stickers/fried dumplings with any vinaigrette you like or a simple one of salt/soy sauce, mayo, pepper, sesame oil and rice vinegar or lime juice. Chop and toss some tomatoes or cucumbers  or both in. Literally takes 15 minutes.

As a 40+ year old person who also struggles with doing life over being creative I APPRECIATE YOU SHARING YOUR VULNERABILITY SO VERY VERY MUCH!!! ❤❤❤

Ideas that have helped me with eating better:

Pre-cutting fruit and veg

Intentionally making enough for there to actually BE leftovers

Pasta (I use elbows that cook in just 5 minutes) with tomato sauce and cottage cheese

Deli slices wrapped around a cheese stick and cucumber spear

Oatmeal or greek yogurt with berries/dried fruit/nuts

Smoothies- frozen, fresh or canned fruit works for these! Add yogurt, milk, ice! (And if you're really struggling with your nutrition, a powdered supplement!!!)

Also, carbs before exercise!!! This is when I will unguiltily indulge in cookies, fruit leather, even a popsicle!

You can absolutely hang things up on hooks, get yourself a bucket of spackle (one bucket lasts a lifetime for renters) and a bit of sandpaper, when you move on, fill and sand, mix a tint bit of acrylic paint the same as the wall from a kids paint kit and bob's your uncle!

Having a dedicated space is every artist's dream! I'm so happy for you that you finally get one in this new place. I thought your old place was really cool with the tall ceilings and small, but clever layout, so I will miss seeing it in some way, but I can't wait to see everything you will make in your new space and how you'll put your unique Carly B touch on it.
