You can never go bad with The Bee Gees, no matter what era. ❤❤

BeeGees manager Robert Stigwood took Barry to watch Otis Redding perform in New York, and later introduced Gibb to Redding . Otis agreed to the Bee Gees writing a song for Redding. Stigwood told Barry and his brothers to write that song. They wrote the first draft that evening. Stigwood had Otis listen to it. He liked it and agreed to record the finished song. BUT he and his band were killed in a plane crash. Bee Gees ended up recording the song themselves.
Janis Joplin performed it a month later. Nina Simone recorded it, as well as the lead singer for the Animals.and over 200 other artists have recorded the song. Barry Gibb had selected this song as his favorite to perform, because its message was simple and direct. Bee Gees earlier gifted it to Stigwood for his birthday as a  gesture of deep appreciation for his guidance and management.

YOU REALLY NEED to watch their concert in LAS VEGAS - ONE NIGHT ONLY!  It will blow your mind and the way the audience responds to them. I watch this concert every night. CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT.

Massachusetts, Words, and I Started a Joke are my 3 favorite BEE GEES songs.

Tomorrow on September 1.   Barry will turn 80.   He was 21 when this was recorded.

Keep in mind the twins were 17 and Barry 20 when they wrote and performed this. I love all their work, but especially the beginning, like this, Words, Massachusetts, etc. Then do Alone, as Barry is now Alone.

The Bee Gees were in a league of their own.
Stunning voices.

The Bee Gees have a huge catalog of stuff like this.

I love their old stuff.  Born in 60 so I grew up with them.

Barry Gibb wrote "Islands In The Stream" for Dolly and Kenny Rogers

All four of the Gibb brothers were incredible.  Such a talented family!

Any time I see anyone talking about The BeeGees, I have to see what they’re talking about. Love them, amazing singers and writers.

They started singing from the ages Barry 9 yrs And THE twins 6yrs old! Barry wrote his first song when he was 9 yrs old!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is early Bee Gees and I loved them... When a freshman in college, guy I was not interested in got me to go out with him by getting tickets to their concert!!  They were able to successfully navigate every style of music and move into all aspects of music.

I totally love the Bee Gees  way way way more than The Beatles. I'm glad you admitted to that. I totally agree.

I was 10 years old and this was one of the first songs I remember from the Bee Gees. It's a great song. The Bee Gees, have never disappointed me. Thanks, BP.

Sit back sometime Black and listen the the best of the Bee Gees. Pure Gold!

Their early stuff from the 60s is beautiful

Try 'Gotta get a message to you' or 'Massachusetts' for more early Bee Gees

They were the proudest of being inducted into the songwriting hall of fame with over 1000 songs written. I was born in 72 and grew up with  disco bee gees. Then in the 2000s there was a live by Request show and i fell in love with all of their mus8c. Watched documentaries i was fascinated, i didnt start to appreciate the beatles for 10 more years.
