Saint Polycarp of Smyrna - The Last Disciple of the Apostles | The Most Supernatural Martyrdom
Prepare to learn about the most epic and supernatural story of early Christianity. Saint Polycarp was the last living link between Jesus Christ and the Church—a direct disciple of Saint John the Evangelist, he was an eyewitness to those who walked with the Lord.
In this video, you will discover the five inexplicable events of Saint Polycarp:
✅ The fire that refused to burn him—it formed an arc without touching him
✅ The white dove that flew from his stabbed body
✅ The prophecy of the three days that foretold his martyrdom
✅ Why he was the last living disciple of the Apostles
✅ The legendary phrase that paralyzed the Roman Empire
Saint Polycarp was born around 69 AD. He was a personal disciple of St. John the Evangelist, who ordained him Bishop of Smyrna (present-day Turkey). For 86 years he served Christ with absolute fidelity, becoming the living bridge between the apostolic age and the early Church.
In 155 AD, at the age of 86, he was arrested during the persecution of Emperor Antoninus Pius. When the proconsul ordered him to blaspheme against Christ to save his life, Polycarp uttered the words that became the battle cry of all martyrs:
"For 86 years I have served Him, and He has never wronged me. How can I blaspheme against my King who saved me?"
They tied him to a stake to burn him alive, but the SUPERNATURAL began: the flames formed an arc around him WITHOUT TOUCHING HIM, and instead of the smell of burning flesh, he exhaled a sweet, incense-like fragrance.
Seeing that the fire did not consume him, the executioner stabbed him. At that moment, witnesses reported that a white dove flew from his body and so much blood gushed out that it completely extinguished the pyre.
Three days before his arrest, Polycarp had a prophetic vision in which he saw his pillow ablaze, telling his disciples, "I will be burned alive"—a prophecy that was fulfilled exactly.
The account of his death, "The Martyrdom of Polycarp," written by eyewitnesses, is the oldest document of a Christian martyrdom outside the New Testament.
With his death, the apostolic era came to a close—the last voice that had heard direct testimonies of Jesus Christ was silenced.
