The Luftwaffe destroyed much of the city centre, and the post-war architecture doesn't always impress. Clifton was thankfully spared though, and it is a beauty. Ridiculous that a city the size of Bristol has never had a club in the Premier League. I'm looking forward to reading the comment from Melissa..
I am fortunate to live in Bristol and have done so for 25 years this November. So many wonderful pubs you’ve frequented in your crawl. The Ostrich is great on a Saturday with friends when the sun is shining; that said my favourite is The Old Fish Market a wonderful bustling city centre pub.
My word that brings back memories, I used to work for midland life ( later hsbc) back in the 90s and the Severn stars was are local ! Pie and chips for £1.99 on a lunch time, the every Friday was Barmaids in basques😂 my word that makes me feel older than my 49 years old. Good video again 👏👏👏 7:03
a pub tour of the old city, which is centered on corn street. There are many more on the main corn st and on other side streets opposite the crown side you saw. . Stokes croft and gloucester rd as someone else has mentioned, that will take you ages as there are looooadds being the main road through the north of the city and stokes croft is really really quirky, alternative, lively and colourful. With some great pubs on mai drag and off to sides in kingsdown and montpelier.
Do Cilfton in two parts, up majestic park Street- queens rd- whiteladies rd- blackboy Hill and another separate trip around Clifton Village, it is full of stunning areas akin to Bath and Edinburgh in architecture with incredible views over the suspension bridge and avon gorge from the whote lion Hotel terrace. That terrace is something else!!
Cumberland Basin , the west end of the harbourside has plenty of lovely pubs on the harbour sides with gorgeous views from the south side from outside the cottage pub. Do a circularish tour round, best on a sunny day, feels like being on holiday there !
East st- North St - loads of pubs that route in south east.
Old market street - plenty of old and quirky ones there in wiper and true brewery and left hand giant brewery.
Church rd Redfield
St michaels hill- Kingsdown stunning hilly historic street
So many to choose from, I'd say defo do clifton village as it is very beautiful especially the view of the suspension bridge. Gloucester rd is the other biggie
If you think the rd up to the Golden Guinea is steep, do a pub crawl up St Michaels Hill, much much steeper and also has about 6 or more old pubs on a historic old street with beautiful buildings and great views. Youd love it. Thanks for coming to Bristol!!
I'm enjoying your videos, but please could you keep the camera still when you are looking at the pump labels? I can never quite see what all the beers are. Cheers!
Shame you weren’t around a hundred years ago mate if you like a good pub crawl.. my little ancient maritime village of Pill, Somerset which is 5 miles down the river from Bristol had many pubs and drinking houses.. in the mid 1700s the Methodist preacher, John Westley visited Pill and found more than 30 pubs to keep all the sailors, pilots and Hobblers watered!!! ⚓️🦈🏴☠️🍺 He wrote “a place famous from generation to generation for brutal, abandoned wickedness” 😂 Even up until recent times there was still a good few pubs and drinking establishment open where you could walk out one and be in another within a 2 min walk.. unfortunately we never recovered after the 2020 rubbish!! 😡😡. By the way, you’ve shown me some pubs in this I didn’t even know were there! 🍺🍺🍺
Try to find a pub that DOESN'T sell bristol beers. No one in bristol are actual bristolians so its "quirky" to have a beer from bristol so everyone sells it. Actual bristolians are over it already 😂
