Why anyone would want to lighten the flywheel on an engine designed for low rpm torque is beyond me. We used to take a few lbs off our race car flywheels that were built for high rpm. The charm of this boxer engine is its low revving torque that makes the riding experience so good.

I just bought (Traded a Yamaha VStar 1100) my first BMW bike. I'm watching a lot of your videos to learn these bikes and how to maintain them. It looks pretty straightforward. You make it look like a breeze. Thank you for your effort.

Please block your crankshaft to prevent it sliding forward. Use a thin piece of wood on the nose of the crank and loosely install front cover with 2 screws to hold it in place. I was on the edge of my seat during that mainseal removal sequence. Very informative video. I have done this job on my airheads and K100. It looks daunting before you start, but it is really just a sequence of relatively simple tasks. Those bit on seals are very delicate, some mechanics prefer the older style lip seals. Great video.
