The greatest England performance ever?

On October 26th, 2019, at the International Stadium Yokohama, before a whistle was blown the tone was set - England formed a V-shape to receive the Haka. What followed was 80 minutes of suffocating line speed, relentless breakdown pressure, and tactical precision that dismantled the two-time reigning world champions.

A game many call the most brutal, clinical, and complete performance of the professional era.

I completely agree, this game was relentless to the max. England shut the AB's down so effectively it was scary. As a Springbok supporter, I was stressing so much that week before the final.

I don’t care the circumstances, I’m saffa but no even us could beat that team regardless of how the final went . They were phenomenal that night

Had England won this WC, it would have been a massive effort by this team, having played France, Argentina, Australia, NZ and the boks. That would have been as epic as RSA in 2023.

I think it’s a sign of high highly we respect the AB’s that these wins mean so much to us.

After this game I thought if England repeats this performance, the Springboks are dead and buried. It was just an awesome display by the English.

Watching this game as a SAFFA, I just thought this England team would be unstoppable

England was PHENOMENAL in that game! As a Bok supporter I was convinced it was goodbye for the Boks in the final!

England gave their all in this match, but it ultimately cost them the World Cup against South Africa.

Absolute dominance by England, probably the best test match ever for England.

England fan living in Tokyo here. Was hilarious watching this in a pub and seeing the totally partisan local crowd get more and more despondent as the match went on.

There is a lot of doom and gloom around England at the moment so I really enjoyed reliving this match.

What a game by England.

That was the England everyone feared and admired! If they ever get back to this the springboks will finally have a worthy opponent.

as an englishman i was so shocked by our performance. it was so unexpected. shame sinckler was injured so early in the final but not sure we would have done any better
