Down the rabbit hole with Ren you go my friend...get your flashlight ready lol

You're not wrong, he was definitely having fun on this one. An interesting thing about it is that he knew he couldn't make money off this song because it's not his backing track. He went to a lot of effort to write the lyrics, produce the track, and make the video just for the fun of it.

I'm a 55 yr old white guy,.We're from different era's and I watch almost every REN reaction and I have to say you are one of my favorites to watch. Keep doing good things my brother.

I LOVE this song and love your reaction. I get so much insight from your insight and appreciation. I feel funny, because I'm a 63 year old woman who is crazy for this song, and this song is -- let's face it -- a teenage boy's wet dream. But Ren is just irresistible. And being 63 doesn't mean I'm old (or dead), just old enough to remember the very beginning of rap. I'm as evergreen as rap is. And thanks to artists like Ren -- wait, there are no artists like Ren -- thanks to Ren rap will always be young. Great reaction. Thanks!

The Hunger, Illest of our time and Genesis 🔥 rap!

He's Self taught on Acoustic and Electric guitar, Bass, Drums and Piano!
Plus producing and Directing his own videos... he's the Definition of Independant artist!

@1:15 "Where are we?" I think it is called the Reniverse ;)

Be advised - Once you enter the Ren wormhole, you may never come back. But, then again, you may not want to.

There’s just nothing or no one like him, at all, is there. I’m 59yrs old and I just can’t get enough of this kid’s music and storytelling. I thought I’d been so lucky to live during the same time as Bowie and Mercury. And then came Ren…
🎶❤ Peace to all🙏🏻✌🏻

Yup, that's a squid games outfit, and the number 456 has special meaning to him. It's how long he was in isolation dealing with his illness.
Red light.... green light 😵‍💫

Only Ren can Rap his Arse off over a popular EDM track... and Nail It!!!
Banger for sure!!!

Yeah, Ren does everything on his songs (writing, singing/rapping/beat boxing, playing instruments, making his own beats, writing up the videos with his videographer Samuel) EXCEPT when he does "retakes". This is is when he challenges himself to put lyrics over someone else's beats. It's just for fun, and they can't be monetized. His Bittersweet Symphony retake is good too.
Ren is probably the only artist who thought making a rap referencing monsters/killers (beings that lose it) over a 90s EDM track was a fun challenge. 😂 He's so talented in every genre he touches. I'm currently obsessed with his tracks with Eden Nash, "Humble" and "Ocean," which have a more upbeat ska-raggae sorta feel. Hard to classify, but fun to play while commuting.

Ren is a Very Good lyricist! Between that and his unique beats and flows, he is Litterally on his own Level!
Can't compare him to anyone!!!

This is a super fun song.. but there is a ton of pop culture references in there (some of them are doubles and even triples) but it is from such a large genre pool that few catches all the meanings.. some small examples are Kaiser Chiefs, they are a UK band, with a song Ruby Ruby..there is also a football (soccer) team by that name, Fuji is the band and also the camera, Rag n Bone man is a UK artist, but also a peddler.. he mentions monsters, artists, songs, movies, tv etc. but it helps to listen to quite a few reactions to get all of them.. and I still haven’t, just as I don’t have all the references.. Ren is a very well read guy, who also spend loads of time indoors due to his illness.. so he watched a lot tv and movies and listened to all kinds of music.. and it shows in his music.. welcome to the rabbit hole.. it’s fun down here… if you vibe to old school hip hop then you have to react to What you Want (this is a homage to old school hip hop, esp. the Beastie Boys)

Yes Sir!  Enjoy .......and yup, sooo much more to explore 💯🎵🔥🇬🇧

Sick Boi, Dominoes, Can't Help Falling in Love, Crucify your Culture, Ready for You, Dear God, Power, Penitence, Life is Funny, It's Alright, and Improvising around Stevie Wonder.

Oh ya.. awesome song right here.  Ren is just beyond amazing.. He switches up flows in music..  Like some songs. have a certain flow with the verses.. then a different flow with the chorus.. But it mostly alternates back and forth.. Ren however, has multiple flows and beats in one song, which makes every moment listening to one of his songs, keep you in suspense on the edge of your seat, because you have no idea where the song is going next.   Like many songs you can kind of predict where they are going.. Rens? No way.. LOL.. no freaking way.. I have listened to all his songs.. and I have watched about every reaction person reacting to his songs.. That is a like obsessive watching on my part, but this guy, Ren, he is worthy of my time. I will gladly sacrifice it to listen to him, and seeing people falling in love with his music and recognizing this guy stands out from everyone else.  Keep up the good work with the reactions :D  Also .. reacting at 6 am? Bro.. your brave.. lol. your brain needs like a pot of coffee just to warm up to this music.  IM so glad you picked up on " Im a digital Terror Byte "  Seen so many people not get that bar.

I've never been someone who listened to much rap (Ill Communication is the only rap album I've ever owned, I think) but I'll listen to Ren rap all day.

Something I really enjoy about Ren's music is that he throws all sorts of tracks out there that have no chorus.  Don't get me wrong - I love a good chorus, but sometimes I'll hear one of his songs that are new to me and I'll love it, and then when it's over and I'm thinking about how amazing this bit or that bit was, I'll realize... wait... there was... no chorus.

Losing It at least has a hook, with the "I'm losing it" line, same with Sick Boi (which is my favourite rap song of Ren's), but you get into Hi Ren and The Hunger and the Jenny/Screech/Violet trilogy and there's no chorus - not even any hook - to be found anywhere (and it doesn't at all diminish how much I love those songs).  It's astounding that he can subvert a hundreds of years old cultural motif in music (songs having a chorus) and captivate people who grew up steeped in that tradition.  It's not an easy thing to do.  Anyone who exists in a cultural millieu where "choruses bring an important emotional connection to the experience of listening to vocal music" has to overcome a deeply-seated emotional need to have that component present in a song to feel satisfied with experiencing it, to the point where they probably can't even really explain why they don't typically feel strongly about a song that happens to not have a chorus.

I'm not saying he's the only one who's ever managed it, but... I'd be interested to find out how many singers/musicians/bands have managed it for 16 million people (the view count on Hi Ren) over the course of what, 7 months?  There's a band I love called the Weakerthans, and they have some songs with no chorus no hook too so I already knew it was something that intrigued me before Hi Ren came along, but - the Weakerthans aren't exactly well-known.

I guess it's less than 16 million people for Hi Ren, because however many of them watched it but don't like it, and of the rest, however many of those views are repeat views.

But millions, still.

Anyway, that's enough rambling on about that for now.  Just one of the many details that absolutely fascinate me about Ren's music.

Ren is the goat 🐐 period ❤
