I know this is a bit of self-praise, but my personal record for flounder is 94cm and 10kg! Here's the video:

Last year, I visited for the first time and was amazed by the flounder fishing at Anfini in Soma Port, Fukushima Prefecture, which was like a Momono-ki (a famous Japanese song) performance by Aki Yashiro.
This year, my company's fishing club organized a fishing trip, and we went on September 25th. Between typhoons, and despite a lot of rain and clouds, we had perfect conditions for fishing – calm seas and clear skies.
There was an accident on the way there that closed the Joban Expressway, but we managed to arrive. The bites were so good, it made us wonder if it was a flounder fishing pond like last year!
And there was even a bit of a surprise: a member who was fishing for the first time this year caught an 85cm, 7kg flounder thanks to beginner's luck!
Last year, I used a tuna rod, but this year I used a sea bream rod and a Beastmaster 3000 reel.
It felt great. Unlike last year, the flounder didn't let go of the sardine they had taken.
This time, I used 7lb leader.
Last year, the sardines were only about 20cm long and there weren't many of them, so we ran out of bait at 8:30, which surprised the captain. But this time, the sardines were just over 10cm long, and there was plenty, so we had a lot left over.
Even though many of the members were flounder fishing for the first time, we all had a great time.
Thank you to the captain and everyone on board! The debriefing session we had in Soma town that night was also fantastic! When we left Murasaki and were heading back to the hotel (Soma Station Hotel - it was great!), a lady called out to me in front of a snack bar - it was a close call, but I steeled myself and went back to the hotel (lol). If we had caught anything, I'd like to go again this year. But it's so far from Yokohama... cries #Tokiwa #Anfini #Flounder #Soma #FishingBeginner
