While attending art school many years ago, we were told to use hot pressed for ink drawings and cold pressed for washes and charcoals. I studied primarily fashion illustration. We used crescent boards for finished pieces, they came in hot and cold surfaces. I love your creative style. I now appreciate that it’s better to know no boundaries creatively, experiment!

This one is the most important to me so far, I have binged watched your videos for over a week now. I joined Patreon and just can’t get enough ha ha. But this one made me take the phone upstairs to my studio and start playing with the facial colors. Cadmium red light and cadmium yellows, burnt Siena ( which I love) and just okay with colors and shapes like u mentioned. Do glad I did

Hot press paper is generally made for extremely fine detailed painting eg botanical paintings that go into plant identification books and show plant and parts of plants like seed pods in great detail. Definately not meant to be used with lots of water layers.
I like many others prefer academy paper even in cold press. I’m pretty new to watercolour but I have tried many different papers. I’m now testing out Paul Rubens paper which currently is super cheap and 100% cotton, feels like academy paper but is half the price again. Cost will probably go up as it gets more popular

Your portraits of ladies are so beautiful! Very inspiring. Only wish I could achieve portraits, but it’s so difficult. You make it look so easy and yet… Thank you for sharing your knowledge and knowledge how. ❤❤❤😊😊😊

Oh I hope you get feeling better soon!!! I love your art and I have used both papers. I’ve found several watercolor papers I enjoy using thats 100% cotton. I’m not an expert of watercolor or watercolor paper.
