When you lease you can walk away with little consequence whenever you want. When you own its not that easy. He's keeping it casual and on his terms.

Frankly, as you are talking I’m just in awe you are passing by an amazing and exotic tree right between the sidewalk and the street. A little after 5th minute of the video you pass a tree that in my opinion you could stand by it and talk about it’s unique beauty and age. Also right at the 8th minute you’re in front of another such beautiful tree!

I absolutely agree, i live in a conjunto now for 5 years and i walk outside and i always run into my neighbors.  I stop and talk for a few minutes with each and every one of them.  I love it!

I knew the owner as well. He was a wonderful, lively guy. I always enjoyed the food and atmosphere at that Greek restaurant. That said, the clientele was almost exclusively foreigners. I think that because the restaurant was located in the heart of Lleras, he assumed it made the most sense to cater primarily to the foreign crowd.

You are young so you cannot compare yourself to a 65 year old. If you are lucky enough to make it to that age you can come back and tell me what you think a retired person should do.

I remember when barrio Manila was nothing more than a few tienditas, one barcito, and a couple panaderías. Crazy how that neighborhood has changed so much and become gentrified with restaurants, hotels, and Airbnbs.

What you are describing is very different from being broke. And maybe that guy is happy in his penthouse with his hired girlfriend and his ten thousand dollars a month.

Keep resteraunt's small.  You can always grow.  Aldo's is the perfect example on the small size great quality.

I would prefer to live with the person I love in Manrique over alone in the best penthouse in Las Palmas.

I can't imagine having the privilege of having a good income like the first guy and not learning the language! I am researching a winter two month holiday because I want to learn Spanish so I can talk to the locals. BTW, thank you for the links from a comment I made on an earlier video.

Seems he is doing very well if he is surviving off retirement and doesn’t have to work. Regardless of how much the peso strengthens against the dollar that is still a lot to work with if he budgets. That’s his prerogative if he chooses to spend much of his money on women.

I visited Medellin two years ago.   I had an Airbnb rented for 30 days paid in full.  I left Columbia after a week.   I have my own opinions on the country and the people and they did not match where I wanted to stay long-term.    So, now I’m someplace else and it’s not Columbia.   Good luck all!

you dont know what people have been through or experiences I use to think like that until sometimes life hits you hard  in ways you could not imagine and people  dont recover and just move through the motions .

It's great to hear what's possible with the certain level of money you mentioned... I'd like to have a family and children while integrating fully into society there...
