Add a exhaust pipe to the outside and wrap it. That will help

You are correct your mini has very little ventilation it looks like, mine have plenty and no overheating problems hence no fan install. Nice install.

You definitely want the fan pulling cold air in. Not pulling the hot air out.  These run so hot that  youll likely burn the fan out prematurely

One thing on my mini x is like you were talking about, the flywheel sucks in air to cool the engine. It's a Typhon with the same B&S 13.5 engine, and they removed the pull start, and ran a bellos type vent hose that's rubber and looks similar to a dryer vent hose to the holes that you already have in the side right next to the pull start cage. Its probably a lot cooler coming from the outside rather than the hotter air coming off the engine. Im not sure where they get a vent hose that big, has to be 5 or 6 inches in diameter,  I've been watching the video while typing this and your saying it's better with the fan blowing so you probably won't bother with what i shared with you, but it might help on a cool day where it keeps the temps down enough that the big fan doesn't need to be on? Not sure. But that's right below the gas tank and alot of people complain about the gas boiling, so maybe it would help with that?. I haven't installed my fan yet, but i found one that comes with a thermostat and relay, pri wired that would turn on at 195 and shut off when the ambient temp cools to 165 degrees. I'm going to run a temp gauge to an area around the gas tank so i can see how much the fan is actually changing the temperature. It was 30 bucks for the fan on Amazon instead of 20 bucks for the fan alone. So the wiring already done and the relay and temp sensor for 10 more bucks, seemed like a deal. But i got a 9 inch fan. Mine also came with an oil cooler also, so that fan will move some air also. I was wondering, some people also mentioned their battery not getting a full charge because the bigger fans running constantly was robbing voltage from the charging system. Have you experienced any issues with that? I plan on adding a couple other accessories, like lights and maybe a soundbar or something, if its an issue, i might add a small lithium battery that i use in my kayaks to run my trolling motor and hook all the accessories to that battery and hook it to a lithium charger overnight.  Anyway, just enjoy watching your videos and others so i can get prepared to do mine when the warm weather gets here. My machine is still surrounded with a foot or so of snow. Good luck and keep the video's coming, i like watching and learning anything that might help me when i start on mine.

Would it still work if you ran the postive from battery and black to cut off switch and have no switch I can't get to alternater

Check that Phony Chinese Tail Pipe that most of them have. There is a 1/2 inch gap between where that Exhaust Pipe is supposed to Mate up with the Exhaust Manifold... Those Chinese are gonna get some people killed if they have an Enclosed Cab sitting directly above where these Exhaust fumes are deliberately blowing into the Engine Compartment !
