Eldrich came to a house party at mine for my boyfriends birthday around this time. He hid in the kitchen playing with my cat and drinking jagermister. Not a particularly sociable guy but we loved his music

My Sisters of Mercy trifecta is "This Corrosion" with "Dominion / Mother Russia" and "Lucretia My Reflection"

Killer band. Goth classic.

Other songs that could be playing in the goth club in 89 - Killing Joke, Love Like Blood and Peter Murphy, Cuts You Up.

You're thinking of Crowded House, Hey now, Don't dream it's over, and the one Smokey mentioned is Thomas Dolby - She Blinded me with science

Sisters of mercy were one of Peter Steele's favourite bands.

Hey guys, I, born in 1968, was lucky to be at exactly the right age when things really took off in the 1980s. I'm grateful for that and would never want to miss it!

Another classic from my young days. You guys are listening to some real banging music lately. Keep up the amazing work.

The best description of Andrew Eldritch's singing voice I ever heard was David Bowie being drowned in a bag of cats. A very talented guy but also very mercurial and difficult to get on with by most accounts and he went through bandmates at an alarming rate. The album this is from Floodland is one of the true masterpieces of the era and I would recommend it to anyone. The firl was Patricia Morrison.

People you could barely remember but were referencing - Weird Science was by Oingo Boingo - the lead singer Danny Elfman did a lot of soundtracks especially for the msot Goth of Directors - Tim Burton and was also the singing voice for Jack Skellington in A Nightmare Before Christmas and he wrote another masteriece album in Oingo Boingo's Deadmans Party. Thomas Dolby did She Blinded Me with science. The real true musical genius though is Neil Finn who wrote Dont Dream It's Over when he was in Crowded House - he was previously in Split Enz (and right now is again) and you should listen to One Step Ahead sometime. He also was part of Fleetwood Mac for a while. An absolutely incredible songwriter. If you really want to experience where Goth comes from listen to Joy Divisions She's Lost Control Again - a lot of new wave, Goth, shoegaze etc can trace it's DNA back to Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures album - the name may not be familiar to some but the T-Shirt of the album cover will be.

That's cool he's wearing an Acid Bath t-shirt. I personally know those dudes. I'm glad they got back together after 30 long awaited years. For a reunion tour.

The Hot Goth Chick (Bass - backing vocals) Is Patricia Morrison , My 3rd favorite band is mid 90's Goth/Dark Wave called Switchblade Symphony from L.A. (I would recommend Clown or Dollhouse) I gave a copy of their singles to a friend & she gave it back to me and I said you didnt like it? She said "No,they sound like 80's music meets phantom of the opera" Thought for a moment & said Yeah pretty much
