Why do your thoughts feel so clear in your head but come out wrong when you speak? I spent 27 years thinking I was just bad at talking. I wasn't. I had misunderstood how thoughts turn into speech.
In this video I break down:
The meeting where I finally asked a question and it came out so tangled that the room went quiet
Why I stopped speaking up in group conversations and started saying "nevermind" halfway through my own sentences
The false solution I tried for years (prepare harder, script every word in my head)
The misunderstanding at the center of it: a thought is not yet a sentence
The public speaking class that taught me to speak improvised, with no preparation, and how that changed everything
What actually changed in real conversations, relationships and work
If you freeze up in meetings, lose your train of thought mid-sentence, or feel like you're far more articulate in your head than out loud, this is the video I wish someone had made for me.

A lot of the time it is because you have a hyper awareness and strong ability to read others nuanced expressions, feelings and personalities aswell as the environmental atmosphere. All this tends to make us feel that we are in a sense - moving too fast or too slow in comparison to others and the world and so not on the same "wave length." Your senses are overstimulated, you're expecting to be interrupted, you're trying to explain/express yourself quickly whilst trying to organise your thoughts and absorbing everything around you at the same time.
We are naturally tuned into so many things at once that it subconsciously overwhelms the senses. Sometimes a trauma response (a self-defense mechanism, to protect yourself) that you've learnt from being young and throughout life. Usually dealing with people who have frequently over-ridden you when you speak, dismissed your ideas/creative expressions/communications or practiced bullying, controlling behaviour towards you (either visually eg; rolling eyes or verbally eg; mocking, aggressive shouting etc) or due to some other form of neglect or abuse, that communicated to you that you were less worthy of respect or less important when being listened to = Invalidation!
You have actually developed an inner connection with your guide within (The Holy Spirit) which allows you to pre-prepare and gives you what the business world calls "executive thinking" whilst psychologists probably call it fight/flight/fawn etc. As a Christian I would call it your Spirit (heart), Soul (mind) and Body (Flesh) protecting you but conflicting, whilst trying to re-connect and find balance.
Which usually happens when, you have a calling and God has great blessing stored up for you because though you have a great hidden inner strength, you still allow yourself to come to him as a child and request his help. Despite trials and tribulations you continue to try to keep your heart and mind pure. This makes you a person of Gods own heart. Spend more time with Christ in prayer and his word and he will provide you with the answers. God Bless you and keep going...
