The Monkees were such a big part of my childhood. Hearing these facts brings back so many memories — what a time to be alive!

I never missed an episode of the Monkees.  I had every album.  Such a fun show!

Davey Jones actually played the drums. The producers thought he would get lost in the back because he was short, so they made him front man and put Mickey on drums. Davey also taught Mickey to play drums.

I loved the Monkees show. I watched it every day at 4pm

I was a big fam of the tv show and their music. Thanks for the background info.

You know, if you want to do something like this, there shouldn't be any alcohol or drugs available, because that messes things up big time

Thought the fairy tale episode was hysterical...Nez was the best in that episode. "Extremely tight budget" translates as cheap. The Monkees were amazing actors/musicians.(Davy girl here❤❤)

Shouldn't the images be relative to the current text?  For example, you talk about the Three Stooges pajamas and don't show any pictures of them

Why couldn't you match up the video with the story line.

They made them funny and made you feel sorry for their .music was great but could find work to pay their rent on the show  but the music was keep them going that led to them become a real to play their own music from now on to their old age

The unrelated video clips and canned AI voice were especially irritating.

Love them

I yhought the episode s were short or maybe i just couldnt get rnough of the monkees  i sleays wanted more.

Funny in the documentary on them she created white out

I ❤ The Monkees love Cherie ❤❤❤ 11/07/2025

Micky was actually the lead singer, not Davy, if you are going by the number of tracks each Monkee sang lead on.  Micky sang the vast majority of the Monkees' songs on every album, with Davy singing only the cutesy ones, Mike the more country ones, and Peter whenever they needed a baritone singer, which was rare.  One of my favourite Monkee songs is sung by Peter:  "Since You Went Away".  The lyrics are absolutely hilarious!  I think out of all of them, Mike had the weakest voice.  I've seen all of them do solo concerts and Peter was very capable of singing lead and carrying an entire concert by himself, as obviously were Micky and Davy.  Mike struggled a bit, but just with the singing.  Both Mike and Peter was superb musicians and could both play multiple instruments and play them very well.

So, who's the guy with the dark curly hair??  It's SURE AS FUCK AIN'T Steven Stills!!
When do we get to the SHOCKING things I DIDN'T know??  Number 4 was the only one I never heard of before and wasn't at all shocking.

And how Kirschner treated the monkeys, even though they weren't a real band to begin with, they were later on. They should have been treated like a real band instead of a bunch of teenage delinquents that don't know what they're doing, because they did know what they were doing. And they were pleasing America, kids and adults, as well as teenagers worldwide, were watching the monkeys not because of the way kirshner was treating them but how they were acting on the show.
So therefore led to the downfall, eventually

Ban AI ....

It was a contract completion...not really meant to do well and they knew it...but I was not just a fan but a DEVOTE so I have a copy
