Up until 20 years ago Madison Lakes were quite clean…We grew up taking Swim lessons at our local Beaches…The change I have seen is the Multiplying Geese Populations…One Goose produces 6lbs of waste per day….Madison and surrounding Cities have 1000’s of geese…Parks are filled with droppings…
I've lived in Madison for 24 years, it's great, I love Madison! I love it, but to just dwell on the few bad things about it for a moment:
• the homeless beggars can be aggressive (the city is very safe overall though)
• Most mid-priced restaurants are of low quality
• Lots of marijuana, lots, it’s everywhere
• traffic is bad bc the lakes bottle things up
• Housing and rents are too expensive
• Good luck trying to find a dine-in coffee shop open after 8 p.m.
- The winters can be brutal
I'm getting tired of YouTubers saying that winter in Madison is "brutal." I've lived in Madison for 75 years. Winter is so much tamer than thirty years ago when the ground was snow covered from November through February, and there was always a week to ten days when the temperature didn't get above zero. That doesn't happen anymore.
5 reasons. 1. Parking is a pain downtown. 2. The homeless are everywhere. 3. Barely anything to do, but go to bars. 4. College town. 5. Actually i cant think of a fifth. I can think of like a zillion positives, but dont actually care if you dont want to move to Madison.
I LOVE winter (WI native and now live in Kansas City...actually getting accustomed to 90 deg humidity). I love Madison too. The state capitol is hands down the most beautiful capitol building in the U.S. But I haven't been there since 2010. I'm sure it's gone downhill with the rest of society.
The surrounding cities and counties are beyond wonderful though.
I love the Madison area and I would not leave this area for nothing. If you are a true Wisconsininte then these issues you claim or complained about are nothing to other parts of the USA.
Being from Milwaukee, I love Madison, probably the thing that would prevent me from moving there is the high rent and housing costs, other than that, it appears Madison is a great place to live , I certainly like visiting the city.
Hi. I want to ask you about go on a w&t program in madison. Would you recommend Madison, atlanta or Dallas (these are my options)? Something to mark is that I'm gonna go to the US in winter.
Obviously, you’ve never been to Minnesota. You haven’t seen mosquitoes till you’ve lived in Minnesota. I live in Lake Michigan and if I see two mosquitoes all year it would be a record. I’m sure there are areas that are just covered but nothing compares to Minnesota.
