People forget how good that Louisville team was. But they were really a fine team at every position. Even their bench.

phi slama jama was the best college team to never get a ring, in my opinion, 80s college hoops was a real thing of beauty, glad I was able to see it for myself

Both teams could have won championships in today's era.

I have a feeling the current generation is going to witness another Phi Slama Jama here pretty soon. Houston is back at #1 here in 2023 and also heading back to the conference where they belong.
GO COOGS!!! 👍

Met Rodney McCray when he became a Rocket at the upscale fitness club right next to the Summit (which is what the arena was called then). Nice guy----really reserved.

Phi Slama Jama at its best!!! Clyde The Glide Drexler and The Dream, Hakeem Olajuwon and company were fantastic in 1983!! One of the best teams ever in college basketball history to not win a title. Inside and out they were electric and would wear you out!! I feel bad for Coach Lewis for not ever winning a title in I believe 3 opportunities. He was one of the best college coach's in history but yet never mentioned today.

The 1983 houston cougars was the second best college basketball team I ever saw. The first being the 1984 georgetown hoyas. I am still in awe that the houston cougars points were mostly dunks in high altitude, low oxygen level albuqerque.

It seemed like such a slow first half yet they’re in the 40s. So different than how the game is played today. Also that halftime commercial for Mazda. What a crappy vehicle!
