My little sister met Mal in Albany in the 70s when she was about 9 years old. Asked for an autograph, and he chatted with her for 10 minutes. As Mal says, he treats people how they treat him. A real character and a top bloke!
I lived near Mal for a while and he used my computer consultancy. Mal is a very intelligent fellow. Quick thinker. Incredible memory for people and faces. Polite. Great fellow.
he had such a great footy career as a player and coach, but Sheehan was only focused on him hitting guys and in particular in two matches. As a footy fan I felt short changed by this interview. He was an absolute star at East Perth and captain coached a side with great stars and aboriginal players. Then switched to Claremont and South Fremantle, where he led the way in having brilliant aboriginal guys join the club and building a connection. State coach too before moving and coaching Perth.
Old Mike Sheehan was baiting him so much I am surprised he did not chuck a bucket of burley over poor Mal. Mal absolutely is a master of the comeback, king of the yap, has a gift of the gab. It was a bit like Mike Tyson fighting my grandma.
Love Brownie. He's a fair dinkum bloke who treats everyone equally and added colour to the game. He captain-coached Claremont for a short while and wore the number 100. He'd be a great bloke to have a few beers with
3:48 He didn't miss playing in an AFL premiership. The AFL didn't come into existence until 1990. He missed playing in a VFL premiership
I’m loving these uploads mate, keep em coming. If possible, you could please put the year in the description? Just would be nice to know when the interview was, just for context.
Gee , as a kid I thought footy was everything. Mal Brown's passion not only as a player but also as a coach exemplifies desire , passion, and desperation. Browny didn't take a back ward step losing wasn't an option. Gee I would of loved to have been a player at South Fremantle under him. I reckon the players under him would of ran through brick walls. All of the above is why people went to the footy. To unwind and see men be men not marsh mellows. Thanks Brownie for your great contribution to our great game!
