It always strikes me how powerful the cover art for this album is. Someone with no weapon is using both of their empty hands to stop somebody else from aiming a weapon. I imagine the two people to be of a similar class because of their identical clothes. It speaks to me about a sad but hopeful desperation that I hear in the whole album.
I remember coming home late at night in the summer after my work shift and would turn on the ac and turn this album on and just relax cool off and drift asleep to this
At the very beginning of 2022 my life fell apart totally and completely. This was the first album I discovered, and listened to, when I finally got something with internet access and speakers again. It was healing, after such an awful time, to experience music again, and to know it will always be there for me.
Love the music rabbit holes you can fall into on youtube. I went from an amazing DSBM album to this within a few clicks, and I only see more Japanese jazz/fusion style albums ahead
wikipedia tells me this genre is called barber beats.... i like how i keep finding music that seems like it's from before the 90s that's like 2010s. So much culture and influence, the snowball is folding in on itself
