Great movie suggestion! Really enjoyed it, and don’t forget to let us know any fun facts or anything we missed down below! Thank you!

Matt Damon's reaction to hearing his teammates voice is genuine. Ridley Scott filmed all of his scenes first and then brought everyone else in.

Great reaction! Love that you’re an ag science major.

Ok first thing first: never apologize for your knowledge, or wanting to share it. As long as you're not doing it in arrogance/showing off, which anyone with common sense (and who isn't jealous) can tell that you weren't, many will appreciate the extra insight, especially in a reaction video. Anywho, I remember seeing this once  when it came out. Great movie. I didn't realize how many MCU actors were in it though, six (seven if you're counting all Marvel Movies [fant4stic]). Also, it's an epic coincidence that Sean Bean (who played Boromir in LOTR) was cast as Flight Director Henderson because it makes the "Project Elrond" joke even more meta.

On my Mount Rushmore for sci-fi

I was in high school when Pathfinder was launched (first grade high school in Croatia)

46:56 -- You may know this, but "steely-eyed missile man" is the highest praise that can be offered within the ranks of NASA. During the launch of Apollo 12, for example, the spacecraft was struck by lightning, scrambling telemetry and risking the mission. A flight controller named John Aaron made the call that reset the ship's systems and saved it, and would do the same for Apollo 13, when figuring out how to power up the spacecraft on very limited resources. Those words were used to describe him both times.

Teddy is not a cold, unfeeling bad guy. There are NO bad guys in the movie, or the book. He's right that he has to keep the big picture in mind to keep NASA going. If he bowed to emotional pressure he would not be doing his job. In the book, he personally goes to Chicago to tell Mark's parents that he's alive before the news hits. He didn't have to do it himself and could have sent someone else. Also in the book there is a NASA rep with Mark's parents during the rescue to answer any questions. He then gets pulled into a group hug afterwards.

According to the bonus features on my Blu-ray this takes place in approximately 2035. Mark is not only a botanist, he's the mission's mechanical engineer or fix it guy. He was selected for the mission partially because of his personality and also his problem solving abilities.

So, what did Mark type that upset so many people? In the book "Look! A pair of boobs! (.)Y(.)"  In the longer scene from the extended version of the movie he calls Vincent a "bureaucratic felcher". Mitch then says he Googled it and then says "Don't". Check it at your own risk. Incidentally, Vincent is Venkat in the book. The book is a must read if you like the movie. Lots more bad stuff happens to Mark that couldn't possibly fit in a movie without making it at least twice as long,.

The potatoes are sterilized by the exposure to the Martian atmosphere. No amount of poo piled on them will cause them to sprout ever again.

I absolutely despise how they changed the ending for the movie to the godawful Iron Man thing. In the book Mark suggests it but Lewis shuts it down immediately. Beck goes out and gets him as planned. The book ends with Mark in their sickbay waiting for painkillers to take effect so he can finally take a shower. He contemplates how the world came together just to save a "dorky" botanist. And in case you didn't notice, the astronaut next to Martinez at the end was Chinese. That was what they wanted in exchange for using their booster.

This was a great watch, so enjoyable to see smart people react 😊

Great reactions! I appreciate your agricultural knowledge young man. ❤

You guys should react to Apollo 13. Days think ud love it. It’s a space movie but also based on a true story.

What Mark said after hearing they had not told the crew about his not dying was calling the director a felcher. I won;t explain the term, jsut urge you to look it up. If they had left it in the movie, they would have gotten a PG-13 rating. And this movie is the best because there are no villians. I know Teddy kind of filled that roll, but he was not. He was the leader, and the leader had to make the hard decisions as he has to take everything into account, not just one person. This is why he bypassed the safety checks which of course ended badly, but that was becuase he wanted to get Mark supplied. He helped get the Chinese involved and told Mark's parents himself. He wasn't a bad guy, he was the boss and the boss isn't always liked.

Average temperature on mars is about -70 °F with the low average -240°F depending on the orbit. So all the potatoes and the beneficial bacteria to grow them froze instantly

After Project Hail Mary, I love this movie as well. I think it's great that you explain everything. Learning is beautiful & even more when it's between you both. I dig it!! Don't be sorry for it! The whole point if a reaction channel. You are so fun. Look forward to the next one. 😊🌹

"The Expanse" isn't a television show.

It's a time machine.

4:29 MAV Mars Assent Vehicle. Gov entities love their acronyms lol

This movie tried very hard to stay true to the science, the two notable exceptions, due to the thin atmosphere, even a Category 5 hurricane wouldn't even feel like a gentle breeze, and two, Mark wouldn't have been able to control the thrust from his hand.

You guys should check out Two hands. It's An Australian movie featuring a young Heath Ledger and Rose Byrne... The Cro 1994, The warriors and Drop Dead Fred are also good.

❤❤ great choice!!
