This is the story of the darkest love of our time, of two men who love each other, provoking the wrath of their supporters. It is a love—you'll see—indestructible. They allow themselves to be evangelized without interruption, they convince each other of certain things, they generously forgive each other's disagreements. If Iglesias were like this with all the Luis Marías, we'd be reliving the Transition.
Iglesias, the vice president turned bar owner-journalist, has announced that he'll be a little late. All the better. Luis María, in the heart of Garibaldi Square, surrounded by the symbols of his Antipodes, has a few minutes to savor Nirvana. Luis María, ecstatic, as if he were seeing Don Juan.
"I love this tavern, I love it. I really do love this tavern..." he whispers, as if repeating a mantra. "I could easily be in Cuba."
"Absolutely, Luis María."
We take seats in a kind of stage where they usually hold recitals of militant poetry and concerts. Everything here is militant. Even the sound-dampening blocks on the roof to avoid disturbing the neighbors are… militant.
