Love it here! Thx for the history our fam moved into Iaeger 7 years ago and everyone is so friendly.

I love watching videos about Iaeger! I also loved hearing you guys remembering and talking about the past, but it would have been so much better if you turned the camera to the left or right and showed us what building you were talking about. All we see is the road ahead. I was screaming 'Which building, turn the camera, turn the camera'!!  😂 It's been almost 4 years. Can you go back and do another video there, pleeease??

Watching from rural Australia, half-way between Australia’s two largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne. I’m in a small country town, in farming country. Very different from WV, but we have similarly salt of the earth people. Thank you for this glimpse into a place far away, all the best to you folks.

I spent the summer of 66 selling bibles in McDowell County West Virginia and I stayed in a three story hotel across the tracks in downtown Iaeger.  I met a lot of nice people and kept in touch with a pretty young lady named Ermalee H.  I still remember her mailing address. It was Left Hand Fork, Lick Branch Hollar.

My family's farm was in Iaeger. From the time I was six until
I was thirteen I spent my summers on that farm.
We had no running water. We had an outhouse. We raised all our own food.  Chickens running everywhere. Grandpa plowed with two blue mules. Our farm on Johnny Cake was the last one on the holler, 40 acres. I can not describe how beautiful it was there. The fences were hand split rails.
Iaeger, the poorest city in the poorest county in the poorest state in America. I was lucky to be so poor.
If you want to hear more let me know.

The sunamco building was the original Post Office.

Thanks for the tour. I remember the name Doc Whitley and his predecessor Doc Dove. My aunt, Pauline Owens, was an RN at Stevens Clinic. My grandfather, was an N&W man his entire life. The house where he raised his 3 daughters was across the river from Auville Yard. His name was W.R. (William Roderfield) Auville but no relation to whoever the yard was named for. I’m older than you (80) so we have no one in common. My dad was career military and left WV in 1948. When we returned from 3 years in France in 1954, we took a passenger train from NYC to the long gone Iaeger station.  A different era.

Nostalgic reminiscing the past.  Grew up in a boondocks too.  Incidentally, that word came across from our place in the Pacific.

Im planning a trip to West Virginia here in a few weeks I hope to drive thru all the coal towns in McDowell county West Virginia

The train at 11:50 was awesome!  I was in Iaeger a few weeks ago and waited right where you filmed it.  I was there for a couple hours and no trains came.  I had to leave because it got dark.

My Mom, her dad and a bunch of my relatives are buried at the Baily Cemetery at Panther Creek. Many of them died in the mines.

Ieager is very similar to the small town where I live in Fayette County, West Virginia. It has seen it's better days.

My mom worked at the community center, and we lived upstairs, and yes, that was our theater. My Bother and Sister worked at the rollerskating rink. I was five at that time, but I was that 5-year-old kid that could skate, lol, and that brick house is where the Mayor lived at one time. I'm sure your Dad played pool with mine. Thanks for bringing back some great memories

Old man Dr. Clark!

👍

Thank you, I have a lot of family there. My grandma Zollie Irene Plummer Fields was born here, my great grandpa Plummer was murdered here also.

I was born at Clark’s Clinic in Iaeger in 1960
I remember growing up we always parked across the river beside of route 52 and walked across a foot bridge into town. The building you were talking about with the medal outline of WV on it was an ABC ( liquor store) and the used to be one before it near the old Fire Department building. I used to go to a Dentist office upstairs at the old Social Security office building. There also used to be a Ben Franklin store near the old Fire department building.

Thanks 🙏
