Today's "influencers" have no idea what that word actually means, nor do they respect the responsibility that comes with the term. Richard Simmons will always be the GOAT, the OG and most lovable and sincere INFLUENCER!!! 🥰

My mom used to go to a gym he had in Dallas. There's a picture of him holding me when I was a baby. (I'm 42 now!) RIP Richard 💪🏻

I loved Richard Simmons.  I emailed him earlier this summer to tell him how appreciated his work was to the world.  He did respond back with a very kind response.  Thank God I said something to him prior to his passing.

I work at a bookshop on Sunset: walking back from lunch sometime in 2014 and heard:  "Hey! Girl!" Turned in the direction of the exclamation, and it was Mr. Simmons.  "You look absolutely amazing!"  Just totally off the cuff, and I definitely needed the confidence boost.  The clip of him testifying was brilliant!

Richard Simmons was one of the kindest, most genuinely good people I've ever seen in my lifetime. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like him.

I adored Richard Simmons, bought the Deal a Meal, watched him on General Hospital, and sweated to the oldies! Knowing he died from falling and injuring himself is so sad. He was a wonderful and caring man. Watching that video you played at the end was the real man who truly cared. I have been overweight all my life, and what he did for America should not go unappreciated. God bless Richard Simmons. You are now an angel in heaven.

He sent me free Sweatin' to the Oldies videos and always responded to my letters and called me on the phone. He was the real deal. He helped me so much when I lost weight as a teenager as I have always struggled with my weight.

If it were not for this man I would've weighed 400lbs and died by now. I learned his "Live It" concept in the 80's, it made so much sense to me. I learned to change the way I ate and exercise. If only I had known all of this when I was in school in the 70's. My highest weight was 310 lbs. I am 63 now. Around 200 lbs. I am disabled now and unable to exercise.  How I MISS WALKING! The "Sweatin'" video tape you showed here made me cry. How many times did I do those tapes with him and LONG to do them again and the sad reality of it is, I'll never be able to. Richard was my mentor and "friend", although I never met him personally,  I have 3 letters from him encouraging me and I will cherish them forever!! I love this man SOOOO MUCH!!! He was and will ALWAYS BE a MAJOR part of my life!! Rip my friend and THANK YOU for your passion and giving of yourself for the betterment of humanity. You are missed. 😢😢😢😢💔💔💔💔💔

Richard seemed like a genuine person. He helped millions of people. I hope he knew how much he was loved. May he be at peace.

You can never imagine the joy this man brought to us back in the day

My mother knew Richard, personally. I still remember all of his messages that he left on the answering machine. Not to mention answering the phone and having Richard ask if my mother was home. This was a thrill to the 10 year old me.  He was always upbeat. Seemingly, never a thought for himself. I understand why he went into hiding. He was clearly an empath who focused the entirety of his life on others. He needed the time to focus on himself. A beautiful soul.

Thank you for this video, Scott and Troy. No one else could've done a more fitting tribute.

I actually got yelled at by Richard Simmons once... back in either 1989 or 1990. I had gone to the mall in Waterford, Connecticut, having no idea he was making an appearance there. As I walked the mall, I came upon him on a stage, with a big group of women watching him and exercising. I stood way back behind everyone, just watching what was going on, while I smoked a cigarette (you could smoke in malls back then). He suddenly stopped, and started telling me to, "put out that cigarette." Naturally, everyone turned and looked right at me 😂. It was embarrassing, to say the least. Cracks me up to this day, though.

His speech was powerful.   He was a person who was sincere and practiced what he preached.  A very kind person.  Great job on this video!

I wish there were more people on earth like him.

He always had such a way of spreading happiness always. Such a kind soul. Thank you Scott for remembering him. 🕊️❤️🙏

As a nurse, it sounds like a lot of the bruising was from ecchymosis. It’s common in elderly people with circulatory issues.

The world is a sadder place without Richard's exuberance and wanting to just make people healthier.

Richard had a great ability to pick people up when their spirits were down and to believe in themselves again We will always miss him

With all those injuries it was more than a simple fall. Amazing that he didn't go to hospital.

His episode on "Whose Line Is It Anyway" had me laughing so hard I cried. I was next to him on Los Feliz Blvd at a stoplight. He was in a convertible Mercedes rockin to the music like he does. Me and my sister waved at him and said hi Richard. He looked back at us with a gigantic smile and waved hi. He was the same on TV as in person
