Anke von Eckstaedt was clinically dead for eight minutes due to a severe pulmonary embolism. Her heart started beating again, even though she was not resuscitated. This was communicated to her by the hospital staff. During her cardiac arrest, she experienced an out-of-body experience—a near-death experience.
