Today I return to the municipalities of Piloña and Cao to ride one of the most historic MTB routes in Asturias.

We'll start from Infiesto, climb the Peridiella trail, and connect with the Arnicio road, which we'll leave above Les Cueves to climb towards the Trapa pass. We descend towards the village of Prieres and continue towards Gobezanes, then along a track to the Arnicio pass.

A little below Arnicio, we pick up the section of the Tarna-Villaviciosa Royal Road known as the "Sellon Royal Road." This ancient route, used for transporting goods and people between Asturias and Castile, still preserves old inns and hostels, now converted into humble stables that hold a much deeper history than meets the eye. Cobblestone sections, steps, fixed ropes, and beautiful descents lead to the villages of Llozana and L'Oteru, from where the only remaining descent is to Infiesto.
