Rodney Dangerfield Made Johnny Carson’s Most Serious Rooms Lose It — Nobody Could Control Him
Hollywood Encore
1,978 views
Rodney Dangerfield made Johnny Carson's most serious rooms lose it — and this collection proves why no formal stage, from the Oscars to a presidential event with Ronald Reagan, could contain his no-respect comedy.
Watch Rodney turn the Oscars stage into a club set with stolen-car, waterbed and second-opinion facelift jokes, disarm a presidential room with mother, Surgeon General and family-priority one-liners, then walk into interviews with Howard Stern, Bobbie Wygant, Conan and David Letterman and flip every serious question into a punchline about selling aluminum siding, making Easy Money, turning 75, and surviving as a so-called sex object. On The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, he reduces Carson's career to a desk job, laughs at his own early publicity photos, forgets material and recovers without missing a beat, takes a weight-loss compliment somewhere dark, and heads back to Vegas still firing.
