Niamh O'Brien, the Irish dancer and wife of Lord of the Dance creator Michael Flatley, died on October 5, 2026, at Beacon Hospital in Dublin. She was 52. Her funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 10, at the Church of Saint Thérèse in Mount Merrion.

This video follows her life in order, using only what named outlets and the family have said publicly. We cover her start in Irish dancing at age three, her fourth place at the World Irish Dancing Championships at seventeen, and her years in Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames and Celtic Tiger. We go through how she and Michael Flatley became a couple, their October 2006 wedding in Fermoy, and the birth of their son, Michael St James.

We also go through what Flatley and his son said at the funeral, the tributes from Riverdance, Irish Dancing magazine and Breakthrough Cancer Research, and what the family has asked for. No full transcript of the eulogy has been published, so we mark clearly where the account comes from the outlets that quoted it.
