🍂 GRESSONEY IN FALL | Between Monte Rosa, enchanted forests, and the Savoy Castle 🏔️

In this new Velvet Footsteps adventure, I'll take you with me to discover Gressoney-Saint-Jean, one of the most charming towns in the Aosta Valley, at the foot of the magnificent Monte Rosa massif.

We start from the mountain road and make our first stop at Fontainemore, where we admire the charming bridge with its small church.

Once we arrive in Gressoney, we park the car and begin our walk from Lake Gover, nestled among woods and mountains.

From here, we follow the path towards the Savoy Castle, crossing the forest and immersing ourselves in the autumn colors. Along the way, we also encounter two charming black cows and a small waterfall hidden among the trees.

Savoy Castle is one of Gressoney's most fascinating sights, testifying to the deep connection between this valley and Queen Margherita, who loved spending her summers here.

After the walk, we return to Lake Gover, where we stop for a small picnic along the river, with a spectacular view of the mountains, the Monte Rosa massif, and the Lyskamm glacier. 🏔️

After lunch, we return to the center of Gressoney, among traditional Walser houses, flower-filled balconies, small shops, and pastry shops.

And of course, a sweet break was a must, before continuing our walk to the church of San Giovanni Battista, just as the daylight begins to change.

A simple day, filled with mountains, nature, history, and small family moments. ❤️
