Revolut now has a full UK banking licence and over 13 million customers. But which Revolut plan is actually worth it for travel? In this video I break down every Revolut tier from the free Standard plan to the £660/year Ultra, covering RevPoints earn rates, foreign exchange fees, airport lounge access, travel insurance, eSIM data, and the hidden weekend markup most people don't know about. Each plan gets a travel value score so you can see exactly what you're getting for your money.

The Metal perks is unreal. I use the FT, Nord, The Athletic alone and it covers my monthly fee by a staggering rate compared to signing up on their own.

For me its simple - I have Revolut Ultra. I travel 2-3 times per month - 2 times buying food at the airport, equals the same cost as Revolut Ultra, where I can eat and drink anything I want in the lounges. Be careful with the insurances - many of them, fx the health insurance only covers you in foreign countrys you are in where the trip was paid for with Revolut.

Revolut just added the 3GB esim to metal and upgraded the ultra to 5GB. So that alone makes it worthwhile.

Revolut Metal insurance applies to you and your wife/husband and they just added 3GB eSim global use :)

In Ireland we don’t have many if any cards which provide benefits or miles so Revolut is the only option for us who want to build miles over here.

I use the ULTRA and for me as someone who travels is the BEST i invest and it's basically free for the value it gives me lounge access alone pays back for it xDD and that's just one of the many perks you get !!

Great video!
I’m an Ultra member for over a year now, I’m pretty happy with the card in combination with my Amex Platinum. The only thing that I think should be added to the Ultra plan is the +1 to the lounge access 😢

I’ve had the ultra card for 1 year now and must say I’m impressed. It was between the Amex plat and Rev ultra. I live overseas and travel a lot (10 trips a year w 4-6 long flights). Earning points can be easy with the shop section but the points/$ has been decreased a lot. Earlier in the year I bought flight tickets through Qatar airways with a 2$/15 points, but such deals are rare. I think all in all if you live overseas or spend a lot of time overseas it’s worth it, now the lounges are usually just okay, I still include the what if price if I were to buy food at the airport (crazy expensive) so overall I am very pleased with the Revolut Ultra plan and will be extending it

I’ve been using Revolut Metal for a few years, and as an expat who travels frequently around Southeast Asia, I’m really happy with my plan. My monthly fee is covered by points, though I did prefer the cash option back in the day!

i have metal for over a year now and it's great, 10 free trades, no cap currency conversions for free. it's a nobrainer. the subscriptions as you mentioned are great too. rev points are 1:1 on metal (at leas twhere i live), i've got some good vouchers out of it making online shopping cheaper. buying US shares in USD requires exchanging money first, having the option to do this for free is the main reason i have this. paying the plan 1 year in advance also offers a hefty discount compared to the monthly payment. it's absolutely worth it even if you don't travel at all. i used the lounge access once when coming back from asia 2 years ago. great experience. still no cheap but what you get for the money is worth it compared to airport restaurants. endless food and drink :D

I began using the metal plan as the savings rate increases from the lower tiers, and the difference more than paid the £140 annual fee. I also use the invest ISA option which gives you ten commission free trades per month which has saved me hundreds of pounds.

This was enlightening. I haven't had time or desire to take such a deep dive, so thanks.
With just a few international trips a year, there's some value for me with the free card, and that's just fine. Cheers

Great video and I agree with everything you said. I have been a Revolut customer from day one and am a metal plan card holder (out of the French program though) . Also have my AMEX Platinum and the combination of the two works a treat!

I have the basic plan, with a Euro card.
Generally use it for my coffee / lunch money through the month, but have a rainy day fund on it and a small savings account too.
I don't travel much, maybe once a year but have a US & a sterling account within the App and transfer money across as necessary pre trip. Even with the limits, it's easy to build up my travel spending money into the currency I want it in, so I get no fees when using it.
I then use Revolut for everyday spending on holiday and my credit card for larger purchases or where I want insurance on it. And my major bonus - I can preload my credit card so I'm using money I have already budgeted for, and not putting myself in debt when using the credit card.
